yippee! i'm going to court tomorrow...
i'm going to court tomorrow in small-town-texas for a speeding ticket (66/40) and WINDOW TINT! argh..

so, since i'm over 25 mph i don't qualify for defensive driving or defered adjudimication.. anyone here think i'll get lucky and score one anyways? or pay the FULL PRICE (about $250) and get this nasty thing on my record?

PLEASE WISH ME LUCK! :(

1. call the officer, ask the last time the radar
device that caught his speed was calibrated, do that and you can usually beat the speeding

14. Also ask what type of training...
the officer received on the use of the equipment. My ex beat 3 tickets in 4 years using that one.

2. Good Luck.
Don't know where you are but I look at it like this. repugs strip revenue from government at all levels so these places have to raise revenue somehow. Unfortunately it may very well be the full price.

4. Talk to the prosecutor and offer to plead guilty to 64/40
99% of the time they will take your plea rather than spend a half hour on a trial. The cop will also go along with it most likely providing you weren't a wiseass when you got your ticket.

5. Do what you have to to keep it off the record. Your insurance will go up

for about 3 years (I believe).

Plead not guilty, maybe the cop won't show up. It happens.

12. Inflection's insurance should go up
Inflection is an unsafe driver and a danger both to himself and others on the road. If I caught him doing 50 in a 25 on my street, he'd be wishing for a cop, I'll tell you that.

7. Wish YOU luck?!?! I think I'd rather wish luck on anyone else on the road
when you're speeding at 25mph over the speed limit. Maybe you ought to ask yourself why you feel that you don't need to follow the rules that are made for the common good.

15. Well, I don't wish anything bad for the OP, but I DO believe
that people need to accept responsibility for their actions and accept the consequences. I hope the OP learns something from this experience and changes his/her habits.

Speeders piss me off. Who the hell do they think they are that they think they're exempt from the rules of the road?

25. Yeah big failure of judgement on my part...
But it wasn't just me. They had about 5 cars pulled over. I was just another brick in the wall, just another shiny check for the state of texas.

No excuse for speeding, but i'm 22 years old with a clean driving record. I don't mind paying it I just really don't need this monster on my record.

I'm literally on my way to court right now... i'll let you guys know what happens. Thank you.

19. If no one was around in that 40mph zone, it would be better for you
IOW, it's easier to speed if there are no other cars around because one tends to become less vigilant.

That being said, do apologize and offer to take a defensive driving course in lieu of the higher penalty.

As for the window tint, you know what? I had dark windows (legal) in Texas, and no sooner had I moved to Oregon than a city cop pulled me over and said, "Take that tint off."

"Yes, sir, officer, sir!" I went home and scraped them off, pronto. At least he didn't write me a ticket.

Good luck tomorrow. Be respectful

a Valentine One may be your best friend. (Instant on lasers are still a problem, but the speed limit defeats them every time.)
