If WWII had been fought on that basis, we would all be speaking Deutsch and giving the Nazi salute; if communism had been fought on that basis, we would all be living in state-assigned cinderblock apartments, riding our state-assigned bicycles to our state-assigned factory jobs, and worshiping Comrade Stalin. The truth is two wrongs very often certainly do make a right, or to put it more exactly, the right side simply must do what it takes to prevail (short of the very worst excesses of the evil side, which this nothing situation does not even begin to approach) or absolutely everybody ends up living in a cold, dark, hell for want of some simple, basic guts shown at crucial moments. Nazism and communism are the perfect examples, and the historical record shows that our leaders consciously made the decision to do what it takes to prevail in both WWII and the cold war

Considering the number of times Democrats have been compared to Nazis and Communists on FR, I don't think there's any doubt that the above applies, in their mind, to us.
