This picture says it all....
George with a look of bewilderment on his face as he contemplates the red shoes; Laura zoned on Xanax or some other powerful narcotic; George Sr. looking bored and possibly sneaking a peak at his watch; and the only President (former or otherwise) with a genuine look of piety and reflection on his face, "evil" Bill Clinton.

And the president's wife, and his secretary of state are veiled.

It's an enormous propaganda statement for the church's power.

lasped Catholic. The only time I really had to go to church was that my Irish grandparents wanted to go to church and I had to go so they could think I went to church. But when we had a solemn event at the church (death or talking about Jesus dying), we bowed our heads and had our hands together.

Clinton is doing this right. Even Condoleezza is doing it right. The Bushes aren't and it's disrespectful. If you notice the people behind them are also bowing/looking down at the ground while they pray.

66. 2000 Bob Jones University
"Some have taken – and mistaken – this visit as a sign that I approve of the anti-Catholic and racially divisive views associated with that school."

I remember that there was criticism before he went. He didn't say anything to counter the criticism when he was there.

Bush's idea of exstasis is a photo opportunity. He is committed to the world of appearances and has no real convictions. Kierkegaard would have called him an aesthete.
