I don't feel like sticking up for the freepers - but I do feel like criticizing you.
I hope you understand that criticizing you doesn't NECESSARILY equate with sticking up for the freepers. (If you don't then you're suffering from the same problem as Rumsfeld and Anne Coulter and FoxNews PR hack Irena Braganti and President Bush when they attempt to stifle constructive criticism by saying "You're either for us or against us.")
Yes, first of all, as Eloriel pointed out, it is rather ironic (and impolite, and a dead giveaway for an exaggerator) that you should have used the word "subhuman" in your post.
It's ironic because so similar a rhetorical ploy was used by the very freepers you're criticizing.
In psychology, what you just did is called "projection". In folksy English, it's called "the pot calling the kettle black". Do you see how you're BEING JUST LIKE THEM in a teensy little way? There is at least some similarity between someone who uses the word "white trash" and someone who uses the word "subhuman". Some might argue that the word "subhuman" is more fightin' talk than "white trash".
My advice to you: don't get down on the freepers' level! If you respond to their exaggeration with further exaggeration, what makes you think that listeners who object to their exaggeration aren't going to also object to yours?
And second of all - freepers say lots of things worse than this. Troll prophylactic: just because I said that OTHER things freepers say are worse than the page YOU cited, DOES NOT MEAN I AGREE WITH THE PAGE YOU CITED! Yeah, it's prety rude. But I've seen much worse from freepers.
When I saw the word "subhuman" in the title, I thought you'd be citing some really nasty freeper thread - like back when they laughed about the 3,000 French people who died in the heatwave this summer, just because the right-wing had decreed that that was the summer to make fun of the French. Making fun of innocent people dying - that was pretty nasty.
Calling Clinton "White Trash" - well, it's kind of mean, but not quite sub-human. As you yourself said - it's something kids in gradeschool might do. (And they're human!)
No, you most definitely are NOT in freeperland here - you are in DU. If anyone here sounds like a freeper, it's you.
Have you ever heard of the boy who cried "Wolf"? Have you ever heard of reputation systems (or "karma") in social software? Do you think anyone's going to read your post the NEXT time you rant that someone is "sub-human" or whatever extreme adjective you can come up with that time?
You may WANT to become some kind of exaggerating, extremist flame-thrower for liberalism - but you're going to find that you can't, because one of the very principles of liberalism is NOT TO DO THAT.
So if you want to feel like you're in freeperland, you're going to have to go to freeperland.
