8. Right, it's in the $0.89 to $.99 per liter range, but that is Canadian
...dollars which are right around $0.81 U.S. to the $1.00 Canadian. So, at 3.7855 liters per U.S. gallon that would be:

High end: $0.99 X 3.7855 = $3.748 per U.S. gallon X .81 exchange = $3.036

Low end: $0.89 X 3.7855 = $3.369 per U.S. gallon X .81 exchange = $2.729

We are closing in but here in Orlando the prices are still between $2.189 to $2.259 per gallon

10. Well, a buck is a buck...
If you live in Canada and earn and spend Canadian dollars, the exchange rate's effect on pump prices is pretty much a wash. I mean, I'm not paying .81/litre, I'm paying 99.9/litre.

Of course that's not much in euros...

3. Highest so far
is in Victoria at $1.01 a liter.

We don't buy in gallons, and there is a difference in our dollar, but yes, it's going up.

5. There are two reasons for the high gas prices:
Obviously there is the supply and demand issue with China soaking up all the oil they can get, but there is also the declining dollar due to the Bush economic policy and the deficit. The international value of the dollar is down 70% since Bush took office, so our $ only buys 70% of what it did in international goods.

In other words, 30% of the increase is due strictly to Bush's tax cuts and economic policy.

7. Oil production may be at a max too, so China's influence is amplified.
No "excess capacity" to respond to increased demand....

12. been along
Has the price in Canada been this way for sometime or has it just spiked recently???

Second question---how do you measure mileage----or kilometers---against the liter or the gallon---miles per liter---kilos per liter or what???

Here in Halifax, it's 99.9/litre. That's pushing $4/gal. As usual, Nova Scotia leads the way to new frontiers of misery!

:toast:  :applause:

Could be worse, of course. We could be New Brunswick (Province of Swine).

ON EDIT: Sorry, it appears that Victoria has surpassed us. The guy who sets gas prices out there must be a bit more stoned than usual... :hide:

15. I converted it a few days ago...
I changed litres to gallons and CAD to USD, it came out to around $2.85 per gallon here in north-western Ontario.
