Anyone interested in a weather group?
Weather/Climate?

For weather watchers, storm chasers, and anyone who has to go outside during the course of their lives. Input from across the country on weather activity throughout the year.

Anyone out there a wannabe meteorologist like moi? Storm chaser? Ben Franklin? Twister Sister?

1. The weather geek in me ...
makes me want to say yes ... unfortunately I probably wouldn't have time to actively participate.

2. Right up my tornado alley
A fellow storm chaser? I have a picture of my last tornado on CD around here someplace. When the sirens go off, I jump in the car, :bounce: circling around the backside, driving like a striped ass ape.

The twister on CD... I screeched to a halt to snap a pic, just as it was going back up, after touching down at an airport. I lost it on a gravel shortcut, when I encountered a metal barn, and powerlines across the road. The troopers wouldn't let me drive over the lines. I think I was close to ending up in the psycho ward as I begged, and pleaded.

I didn't get to see it demolish half of a town 30 miles away. I was devastated. ;-)

For those who may think me uncaring, and crude, I spent 3 months in 1993 watching the Mississippi River take everything I owned. A cabin on the river full of antiques is not a good idea.

Will check back for a reply later. :)

16. I totally missed it.
I was busy getting the horses taken care of and the weather was just scary. He is a professional photographer and was out looking and hit my place about 5 or 10 minutes after I left to come home. Never did we have any sirens that night, no warnings, just a watch but there it was. I really wish I had been there, sort of, well I guess...I have no shelter out there and it does often get a little scary in the spring. Still, I would live no where else. :hi:

Count me in.

5. You must be a fun date...
Ok, I've not snagged a tornado. I have driven around looking at the storm clouds.

I finally bought Interwarn Storm Alert software and I love it.

This is Kansas right now. I'm in Missouri so we'll get it later.

The radar access is worth the software price.

14. Yeah, we were jipped last night.
NOAA said 80% chance of good storms for Tue night, Wed, and Wed night. So far we've gotten nada. Zilch. Zip. Storms look to have gone south and north of us.

7. I really appreciated "The Weathermen" of the mid sixties
I do indeed wish we had a group similar to them today. Code Pink comes very close though...

17. Oh yes yes yes!
Though I must say that since I live in western NY I wont have any 'nados but blizzard pics, thunder snow, maybe some Aurora Borealis oh and lots of pretty Fall foliage shots.

Would be a great way for us to educate ourselves and maybe even get heads ups on stormy possibilities???

Yeah count my star in!

18. Only if discussion is limited to practical means to do something about it
Edited on Wed Apr-06-05 10:52 AM by HamdenRice
That is, to do something about this awful weather we've been having. As they say, everyone talks about the weather, but no one does anything about it.

22. As the rain continues to fall and the sky lights up with
lighting and the thunder rumbles, my response to this inquiry is HELL YES!

Count me in!

I predict that the Mississippi Gulf Coast is in for some fun weather this summer.

I probably won't get on my computer at home, its dial up and the lighting is a popping.

I love the Coast, despite the crazy weather. :hi:
