GOP Give$ Physicians Awards -- for a fee
I don't know if this has been posted already but I found it very interesting.

Link: http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/Investigation/story?id=643826&page=1

Snip: <The good news reached the Jamestown, N.Y., office of Dr. Rudolph
Mueller in a fax from a congressman in Washington. Dr. Mueller had
been named 2004 Physician of the Year.

"My secretary came running in and said, 'Dr. Rudy, look at what
you've won, you're Physician of the Year,' " said Mueller, an
internist.

But to receive the award in person at a special two-day workshop in
Washington last month, Mueller found out that he would have to make
a $1,250 contribution to the National Republican Congressional
Committee. It was a disturbing discovery, he said.
"To actually buy your award and it's not from your peers or from
your patients or from the community that you serve, it's really
deceptive," said Mueller, author of "As Sick As It Gets: The
Shocking Reality of America's Healthcare, A Diagnosis and Treatment
Plan." "It's not being honest, it's just not right.">

Snip: <"You know nobody knows, so don't feel bad about it," Mueller said
one attendee told him. "I think that more than likely it's to get us
Republicans together under the pretense that maybe you will work a
little harder to keep Republicans in office."

Another winner was more blunt. "I don't think it's worth it from the
standpoint of your own qualifications, but I think it's worth it to
support the party," he said. "Basically it's one big monstrous
donation to the party." >

3. OK
Shouldn't there be only one of them and that person be approved by thier peers instead of a political party looking for donations? Seems Republicians like to cheapen anything they get hold of nowdays.

8. My jaw dropped a little when they aired it on the evening news tonight
Repugs have a way of elevating themselves to such unworthy statuses.

It made me think of George Tenet(sp) being given the Medal of Freedom by shrubby. The medal was nothing more than payment for a service...providing false Intel, suppressing real Intel, then keeping his mouth shut so that the BFEE could have their little excursion into Iraq at the expense of the American people.:grr:

Apparently the cons have an endless supply of minion-whores.

6. Amazing isn't it? And, dare I say, genius
Send out these notices of "Awards" to people, saying that all they need to do is donate thousands of dollars to the GOP. That way, they can seek out the right kind of people who will whore themselves out to the party, and they can get them to say whatever they want. Plus, when their whores back up whatever lies the GOP is selling, the party can brag about how these doctors who support them are "Nationally Recognized and Honored Physicians".

ie: Dr. Sellout agrees with the President's proposals. He was recently recognized as "Physician of the Year".

Its the kind of circular logic that Republicans crave, and on which entire platforms are built.

7. If I ever see one on a doctors wall
I'll cancel my appointment and find another doc, and tell them why...this is nothing but a marketing scam...

9. I thought the exact same thing...
except, I would probably make a little scene, and let others in the waiting room know about the doc's little "award".
