WOAH! DeLay's wife and daughter paid $500,000 by his OWN P.A.C.-(NYT)
HOLY SHIT! He's TOAST!

Political Groups Paid Two Relatives of House Leader
By PHILIP SHENON

Published: April 6, 2005

WASHINGTON, April 5 - The wife and daughter of Tom DeLay, the House majority leader, have been paid more than $500,000 since 2001 by Mr. DeLay's political action and campaign committees, according to a detailed review of disclosure statements filed with the Federal Election Commission and separate fund-raising records in Mr. DeLay's home state, Texas.

Most of the payments to his wife, Christine A. DeLay, and his only child, Dani DeLay Ferro, were described in the disclosure forms as "fund-raising fees," "campaign management" or "payroll," with no additional details about how they earned the money. The payments appear to reflect what Mr. DeLay's aides say is the central role played by the majority leader's wife and daughter in his political career.
Mr. DeLay's national political action committee, Americans for a Republican Majority, or Armpac, said in a statement on Tuesday that the two women had provided valuable services to the committee in exchange for the payments: "Mrs. DeLay provides big picture, long-term strategic guidance and helps with personnel decisions. Ms. Ferro is a skilled and experienced professional event planner who assists Armpac in arranging and organizing individual events." (BULLSHIT!)

78. RoachBoy, Jeb and Dubya decided to act as Terri's personal Holy Trinity
Edited on Thu Apr-07-05 12:24 AM by rocknation
Saving her would give DeLay absolution for his other ethical sins, help Georgie make his first big payment to the GOP's religious extremist leaders, and set Jeb off on a 2008 presidency. Unfortunately, someone taped that speech that RoachBoy made about God sending Terri to the GOP. But that wouldn't mattered too much if the Schiavo deal hadn't gone south.

RoachBoy responded by making threatening remarks about judges, warning his fellow Repubs that they would not get election funding if they didn't support him, and planning to appear at a conference on "The Judicial War On Faith." Dick Cheney responded by saying at a press conference that RoachBoy's judge remarks were not "appropriate"--and suddenly RoachBoy is up to his tentacles in news stories about additional ethical irregularites.

True to form, he tries to blame all his sudden bad press on "the liberal media," as if that could get him back into the RW's good graces. I myself blame it on RoachBoy's inability to realize that he's been told to jump or get pushed!

32. Yet another Delay scam
From page 2, no wonder his family doesn't speak to him.

"The Republicans, under the direction of Delay, came up with the idea for the awards five years ago as a means of helping to raise funds for the congressional campaign efforts for their party..

...A Republican congressional spokesman said Delay stopped direct involvement in the program two years ago, but the majority leader was the guest speaker this year at the awards ceremony luncheon, giving a speech that included proposals well-tailored to the doctors' interests.

"We need to reform our legal system so that predatory personal injury lawyers can't clog our courts and drive doctors out of business with abusive lawsuits," he said. "Today in America, a doctor in a small town is trying to determine how he can continue his practice after learning of his new higher malpractice premiums."

44. Bush did this too...
a few days before last years elections I received a phone call saying that my little business had been chosen as 'business of the year' and I was invited to come to D.C. and have lunch with Bush. I would receive my award at a reception following the luncheon. All I had to do was donate $500.00 (and pay all my own travel expenses of course). Right after I told them some version of "hell no", I got a call from my brother who also owns a small business in town. He said, "you'll never guess the phone call i just got..." Apparently all it takes to be 'business of the year' these days is a $500.00 donation to the repubs!

63. Reliant funded his daughters BABY SHOWER!!!! from rawstory:
Abramoff keeps popping up in these things...

A Texas energy company being investigated with regards to improper fundraising by those connected with House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) held a baby shower for DeLay's daughter Danielle Ferro in May 2002—and the event was attended by lobbyist Jack Abramoff, who paid for some of the congressman’s overseas travel, RAW STORY has found.

The shower, reported in the Washington, D.C. newspaper Roll Call Jun. 10, 2002 (article posted here), was held at the Washington offices of Reliant Energy Inc., a Texas-based power company that has given heavily to DeLay and his political action committees.

Donations collected from Reliant by a DeLay-linked political action committee are now the subject of a Texas state probe. DeLay’s daughter Danielle helped manage that committee, Texans for a Republican Majority, and her records have been subpoenaed by an Austin grand jury.

. . .

Among the shower's guests was Jack Abramoff, the lobbyist found to have paid for at least two DeLay trips that were fronted through a conservative nonprofit. The trips, taken in violated of House rules, ran a tab of more than $130,000.

69. Abramoff all over the place
Delay gets a very expensive all expense paid trip to go to Russia to see Abramoff seven years ago

Abramoff comes to the US and lobbys for Relient.

Abramoff's Relient funnels money in Delay's PAC who gives money to Delay's wife and Delay's daughter.

Delay rules over conference committee which decides bills in favor of energy companies.

Abramoff is involved in the whole Indian Casino fraud deal.

Abramoff's client hires Delay's daughter

Abramoff & Delay attend a baby shower for Delay's daughter, the shower paid for by Abramoff's client.

But Delay says he barely knows Abramoff.

67. If Republicans are smart, they'll ask Tom to "Retire"
Pretty much what they did with Gingrich. And believe me, Gingrich did NOT faid away after his retirement, but it got all the crap off his back.

71. I don't want him to go! I love Tom DeLay!
He's a poster boy for Repig bad behavior. Even Faux news dumbasses are embarrassed by him. I want him around breaking the law, getting his ugly face in the news until at least the '06 election!!!!!

72. Smoke, meet gun.
Game over, Tommy boy. There's NO way you can explain taking money from your own PAC. Even the Smear Boat Liars For Bush were smarter than that. Happy trails, moran--and don't be surprised if Rove or Cheney is behind the leak!

74. didn't they get rid of the chairman of the ethics committee, and replace
him with someone who donated to the same PAC's that are in question in this investigation? I also seem to remember 3 other members of the ethics committee being replaced by fervent supporters/donors of Delay.

76. I hope so, but they'll probably raise the terror alert, do something to
distract from this...stay vigilant.

81. so what's gonna happen to him now that he is exposed?
nothing. that's my prediction. no way would the unraveling begin now with Delay, that's too easy. Besides, I've resigned myself to nothing happening, I've trained my mind for years now to accept the impossible.

If something happens, I swear to God I don't know what I'm gonna do.
