I joined DU one year ago today!

It's been a difficult year in many ways, but today I found myself thinking about the year it could have been if I hadn't discovered DU on April 4, 2004.

For me, it would have been infinitely worse. I would still be struggling with cable news, and feeling as though I must be insane. I would still be wondering if there were any like minded individuals out there. I would probably be so apathetic by now, that I would have tuned out of politics altogether.

So, thank you, all of you. Every member of DU contributes to make this place the haven that it is. I've enjoyed being part of your board for a year, and, with luck, the experience will continue for many years to come!:toast:

I joined right before the last election, but, I'd been lurking for about a year. I was too afraid to join in. I'd never joined an on line discussion before. I'm so glad that I finally did. It was scary at first, but, I found like-minded souls to commiserate with and here we are!

4. Yeah, I remember that feeling of

being too afraid to post! Now, I just figure what can they do to me? It's not like I haven't heard every comeback in the book already, especially when I taught middle school! LOL! Compared to those thirteen year olds, you guys are creampuffs!
