what if the Constitution Restoration Act passes?
You have judges saying its unconsitutional

Then, you have republicans saying that its Gods will and cannot be made unconstitutional.

Is this a Catch-22 bill?

1. No. The Constitution surpasses ANY law...even one that says
it is god's will and cannot be overturned. The only thing that cannot be overturned is a Constitutional Amendment.

4. I hope you're right...
I'm starting to worry about the safety of our judges after some of the comments I'm hearing from the far right. Its almost like the fundamentalists are trying to find a way to "semi-legally" overthrow the government. I think I always took judges for granted before... not anymore.

I didn't know about most of this stuff before I joined DU. Now its tough to sleep at night. Perhaps ignorance is a blessing.

6. i think the right wing nut jobs are trying to scare judges.
Judges know the constitution protects them from being removed from the bench, but it doesn't protect their lives. If the right wing scares enough of them into ruling in their favor, then it is all over...

8. There is nothing to fear but fear itself,....remember.
Most of the crap is just made-up bs specifically to scare you.

You should be pissed off that anyone is intentionally trying to manipulate through unfounded fear.

Assholes!!!

9. Actually this bill re-writes the constitution.
According to the neocons, it is "restoring" it to the founding fathers original intent.

Still, it is scary as hell. If it passes and is not challenged within the first 30 days, the family and I are going on an extended Canadian vacation. (totally serious -- this bill, unopposed, would be my last straw)

13. It would be a lot of people's last straws
Our founders explicitly said we were not founded as a Christian nation - for both the good our our government, and the good of the religion.

These people are trying to rewrite history.

But from what I understand it probably won't pass. If it does, expect all heck to break loose.

2. It's unconstitutional - period
and may be grounds for a civil war if things go too far.

3. Did I miss where the GOP now knows God's will?
Edited on Mon Apr-04-05 10:02 PM by Erika
Have they become His mouthpiece on earth? Do they really think He is incapable of making His own will known and that He needs them to speak for Him? Do they know how silly they look?

5. The USA will be DOA which is exactly what the tyrants want.
But the EVIL annihilistic parasites are gonna burn in hell and die long before their greedy black-holed fingers can touch this country or the world. They will smother in their own bile-generating evil.
