"OUR SOUL IS SHOCKED" - help me understand that headline
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/

Is the passing of an 85 yr old man that shocking.

He wasn't up playing badminton yesterday.

If you are a devout catholic that keeps up with the Pope, his travels, his health, and his church politics, you should have been prepared for this.

He is blessed to have died comfortably, peacefully, and at the side of friends (hopefully).

I have no problem with the media coverage- this is a significant event of global importance - but the headline is exploitive hyperbole.

My frickin SOUL IS SHOCKED by the relentless and easy killing going on by the SHOCK and AWE foreign policy of the chimp!

Rest in Peace Pope John - but I can't say my soul is shocked.

1. It appears to be a quote headline, but the quote is only a header
on a paragraph...no attribution.

Lazy journalism.

5. My soul is not shocked. "911" didn't change me
the aftermath of 911 and the criminal actions by my government did have an impact on me...but I don't blame that on the events of September 11, 2001....I blame my government and only my government for their reactions and actions and all the consequences from their actions and reactions.

I blame the media for "exploitive hyperbole."

Respectful, honest, and truthful coverage? No.

....but "exploitive hyperbole"? Yeah...I blame the media for their actions.

and American media does "exploitive hyperbole" really well...

6. Americans seem to be in a constant state of surprise lately
Lacking critical thinking skills, most of us find we cannot predict even the most obvious future events.

Add a good dose of the 'United States of Amnesia' (as Gore Vidal says), and we cannot even remember the warnings we received before an event happened. It's all just 'like a lightning bolt out of the blue'.
