Papal Tradition
Just had to share. I saw it on Yahoo news. It's interesting to me. We've always known that they do it, but this is the first time I have seen it. It isn't quite how I pictured it.

1. You'd think they could find a maid to press that ribbon.
The creases indicate that it's been folded up and stored since... well... the last time it was used in 1978.

Hm. May have to add this to my blog.

Gotta link?

The above is the link to where I found the pix.

I'm going to go try and do some reading on the tradition of the ribbon etc.

3. So far I found this
http://www.americamagazine.org/papaltransition.cfm#dies

The camerlengo locks and seals the private apartment of the pope. In the past looting of papal apartments by his staff, the cardinals or the Roman populace was a common custom. Modern popes have been more concerned that their private papers not fall into the wrong hands.
