Cokie Roberts just compared John Paul II to Raygun
I am so totally pissed off.How dare that right wing bitch dare to compare the pope to the robber barons party raygun. She implied the pope was popular because he used to be an actor .That was way too ugly.
Stupid bitch.
Ok Rant over

3. Let''s see, they' were both incredible nice, popular men
who--because of their opposition virulent opposition to the left--suborned the murder of thousands in the anti-communist pogroms in souith and central American in the 1980s.

I think that's a fair comparison.

5. pre-emptive attack to save the "Reagan ended Communism" line
I heard several times yesterday people mention the role of JPII in bringing down the Iron Curtain (W even mentioned it) so now they are using this to further the patronization of St.Ronnie.

18. For sure
"This weekend our Catholic friends greived the passing of a fine man who cherished life and was instrumental in Ronald Reagan's history changing plan to end the Cold War and rid the world of the evil Communist menace..."

Something like that

6. oh, yuck...
Roberts will use any opportunity to lavish praise on a Republican - I really despise how they twist something like the Pope's death to further their own political (or monetary. which I believe is her entire motivation) interests.

Of all of the sleazy media pundits, she's the worst. I change the channel whenever I see she's a guest.

8. How disrespectful to the Pope's memory...
Reagan wasn't even fit to lick the shoes of the fisherman.

Listening to Cokie Roberts is like listening to somebody give a ReTHUGlican oral sex.

16. For that matter...
You bring up a good comparison...

Both ignored AIDS, allowing millions to die, rather than do something they found upsetting to their social values.

Reagan sat on his ass, not mobilizing the CDC and NIH, because they were a bunch of queers. JP2 insisted that Africans shouldn't use condoms, even though doing so is one of the only lines of defense for the AIDS epidemic that is devestating Africa.

Shocking.

Edit: Yesterday I said that comparing the Pope to Reagan is like comparing Martin Luther King to Puff Daddy.
