Terri Schiavo with his, "We must always protect the weak."

He said "Culture of Life," outright.

The pope refused to allow them to even take him to the hospital. HE made the decision to die, not anyone else.

31. Well
He had his personal physician, a cardiologist, 2 ICU physicians, and Ear Nose and Throat physician and 2 nurses at his bedside.
I don't think being in a hospital would have bought him better care than that.
For the very weak and sick, the worst place in the world is in the hospital, as that is probably where he contracted the infection that gave him septic shock.
It's just generally the only avenue we have because we don't have the finances to have a team of doctors at our bedside in our home.

Edited on Sat Apr-02-05 08:01 PM by rocknation
He didn't take the path that would have allowed him to live longer, and he was certainly "more alive" cognitively than Terri! In President Mightymouse's eyes, at least, that should mean that the Pope flunked the "culture of life" test. Of course, maybe he meant to flunk it--maybe "choose your own way to die" was his parting message to the world!

16. The Pope condemned the war in Iraq, the death penalty
The Pope embraced the poor and disenfrachised. Bush has an awfully narrow description for his "culture of life" - "Terry Shaivo" and the unborn after that everyone else can go to hell.

Bush Mourns Death of Pope John Paul

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush and first lady Laura Bush mourned Pope John Paul II on Saturday as a "champion of human freedom."

21. Here's a quickie transciption of the Chimp-monster's idiotic babblings...
The world has lost a champion of human freedom. And a good and faithful servant of god has been called home. Pope John Paul II left the throne of St. Peter in the same way he ascended to it -- as a witness to the dignity of human lifE.

In his native Poland, that witness launched a democratic revolution that swept eastern europe and changed the course of history. Throughout the west, John Paul's witness reminded us of our obligation to build a culture of life, in which the strong protect the weaK. And during the pope's final years, his witness was made even more powerful by his daily courage in the face of illness and great suffering.

All Popes belong to the worlD. But Americans had special reason to love the man from krakow. In his visits to our country, the pope spoke of our prove denial -- provencial constitution, our declaration and the blessings of liberty that follow from them. It's these truths, he said, that led people all over the world to look to america with hope and respect.

Pope John Paul II was, himself, an inspiration to millions of Americans, and to so many more throughout the world. We will always remember the humble, wise, and fearless priest, who became one of history's great moral leaders. We're grateful to God for sending such a man, a son of Poland, who became the Bishop of Rome, and a hero for the ages.

26. Of course, as the reporter on ABC that has traveled with the Pope
pointed out, The Culture of Life message has been Pope John Paul II's message and the weed stole it from him. He took advantage of his illness to pervert and steal his message.

The ABC journalist also pointed out that the Pope's "culture of life" call included non-violence, anti-war and anti capital punishment.

The weed will get caught up in all of this and his lies will catch up with him. It is all turning and the truth will set us free from their tyranny.

Remind all the media outlets know that roughly 70% of America don't approve of government interference in right-to-life matters, and point out that by refusing additional hosptial care, the Pope did NOT to cling to life as long as possible. Yet, Bush thought nothing of slipping in an agenda talking point when he was officially mourning the Pope's death. I think a letter-writing campaign is in order: to the DU Media Blaster, Robin!

But of course, W* ignored that part and used the pope's death as an excuse to capitalize on his fundie base when he offered his condolences and used that phrase. Despicable.

Bush has not mentioned anything about what happened today in his "culture of death" war in Iraq.

Shrub quoting the Pope:
