2. It's true, but I don't know why.
I know it happened when his whole family agreed to remove life support from their father (her husband), but I don't think I've seen anything that said they havent spoken since than because of a disagreement over that decision.

5. he was a party to their lawsuit after that
at least according to the LA times story on DeLay.

so, even though I don't know anything about anything related to this, I'm assuming they had contact after that.

7. I don't have a link, I was hoping to get one.
I think I heard it on a radio show Thursday or Friday.
I was hoping one of our Texan DUer's might have some input.

8. No sources or link are needed on this rumor. Just knowing
and seeing Tom DeLay would be enough proof for me. I'm not indeed sure Tom DeLay has a mother from this here earth, even though he dresses like a human being!

10. No links, but common knowledge here in his backyard.
He has 2 brothers--one a "Lobbyist", another a Preacher who I think got started in preaching while in jail years ago. Don't know why but he's cut them all off years ago--didn't even invite them to his daughters wedding. He DID invite his big contributors, though. 2 local rumours are: He DOES have contact witht he Lobbyist, off the radar, though. And he cut the family off because they're not "classy" (!) enough for his snooty pants-in-the-family-wearing-wife.

13. Some years ago
either the Washington Post or the Washington Post Sunday Magazine had a very long article about Tom DeLay. As I recall, Tom DeLay's father was an alcoholic and father and son did not get along. I also recall that some members of the family said the only time they saw Tom DeLay was when they watched the House proceedings on CSpan.

The recent LA Times story about the death of Tom DeLay's father said that Tom DeLay came to the hospital several times while his father was dying and that he agreed to let his father die. The LA story also said that Tom DeLay went along with the lawsuit that his family filed against a company that manufactured parts in the tram that malfunctioned and caused the father's injuries.

18. I remember reading this story, too
Thanks for finding it.

"For all of Tom DeLay's public espousal of Christian values, particularly his deep commitment to family, he privately has nursed a terrible estrangement from his own mother and three siblings. After the 1988 death of his father and the rise of his career in Washington, DeLay cut off contact with all three siblings, and seven years ago he stopped attending DeLay family gatherings. He has not seen or talked to his mother, Maxine, in two years, even though she lives about 10 miles away from Sugar Land; nor did he invite any of them to his daughter's 1999 wedding or even mention his mother in the published wedding announcement."
