The rise of the irrational, dogmatic and demagogic has undone
more than two hundred years of America's love affair with science and technology. And knowledge based on the Cartesian and Newtonian principles of a mechanical universe accessible to human beings through mathematics, logic and reasoning. The entire tradition of Western thought seems to be unraveling at the speed of light because of the ascendancy of the religious zealots. Our competitors, like China and India, raised on mysticism and Eastern thoughts of an unknowable Universe acessible only to the divine, have now vigorously adopted Western scientific thought, even as we head in the other direction.

1. Philosophy
I guess Ho Chi Minn had it right when he said they were the ones working with the western philosophy,(scientific socialism) and the Americans were the ones supporting more oriental Ideas of individualism, freedom, and liberty. Paraphrase.
