Streisand attacks 'destructive' Bush
American entertainer Barbra Streisand has sent a fiery letter to leading Democrats attacking President Bush and defending Bill Clinton.

The three-page memo tries to rally the Democrats against Bush because they seem "paralysed, demoralised and depressed" since losing the November election.

Streisand has been a long-time Democrat supporter. If the party does not fight back, she says, they will remain on the back foot "with our fingers holding the dyke against the Republican revolution."

"How could such a destructive man be so popular with the American people?" she asks of Bush.

"Not only is he poisoning our air and water - he's poisoning our political system as well."

Way to go Barb! Wake up the Democrats and give * hell!

2. Way to go Babs.
I have been writing diatribes like this for over a year now to our Democratic leaders, but when she does it, it has so much more panache and weight as I am sure she contributes a lot of cash to certain candidates.

3. uh...
they will remain on the back foot "with our fingers holding the dyke against the Republican revolution."

Isn't it 'dike'? As in, something to hold back water, not a LESBIAN???

I'm getting a mental picture of my finger holding a dyke.

Not pretty.

16. I've often wondered the same thing.
If she and Spielberg and a few other Hollywood liberals would pony up a few bucks, like maybe the amount they spend on clothes and chartered plane travel, we would have our own media establishment.

Talk is cheap.

8. Thanks for the links...
I have always had great respect for Barbra, IMHO, there is no other voice as fine as hers on the planet. I truly believe she is the closest thing a human can be to a musical instrument.

Anyway....enough adulation...She has it together, and I can expect Tucker Carlson to make hay over anything she says. So this should be fun over the next week or so.

9. Your welcome.
Check out her website...it's almost totally political. She has links to many articles of interest (anti-Bush).

11. She's one democrat that I'd just assume keep her trap shut.
And I rarely believe that. Streisand is wonderfully talented but she's also a liability.

15. Good God! I'll take ours over there's any day.

Streisand's attack comes six weeks after actor Martin Sheen - who plays the US president in TV drama The West Wing - described Bush as a "moron".
...
Other prominent Democrat supporters include Stephen Spielberg, Tom Hanks, Kevin Costner and Michael Douglas.

Fans of the Republican party include Charlton Heston, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Latin idol Ricky Martin topped the bill at Bush's inauguration party.
