According to a study by the Swedish World Values Survey Organization (http://www.worldvaluessurvey.org/news/index.html) of the well-being in 82 societies, the US ranks number 15.

The high list with their respective scores is as follows:

Puerto Rico 4.67
Mexico 4.32
Denmark 4.24
Ireland 4.16
Iceland 4.15
Switzerland 4.00
N. Ireland 3.97
Colombia 3.94
Netherlands 3.86
Canada 3.76
Austria 3.69
El Salvador 3.67
Venezuela 3.58
Luxembourg 3.52
U.S. 3.47
Australia 3.46
New Zealand 3.39
Sweden 3.36
Nigeria 3.32
Norway 3.25
Belgium 3.23
Finland 3.23

The bottom of the barrel are Indonesia, Zimbabwe and Ukraine.

4. If PR were a state it would be the poorest in the country and rank
last on many other lists as well. Yet it is number 1 here and Mexico is 2? I went to the site and couldn't find their methodology except that it is compiled from scores of 2 other tests...which I couldn't find.

The US survey was conducted by Ronald Inglehardt of the University of Michigan with a sample size of 1200 (2 waves of 600 interviews).

Well, now we know it's subjective, that explains it. There's all the difference in the world between a subjective idea of happiness and satisfaction, and wellbeing. I'm glad Puerto Ricans are happy.
