What's next: Brown is scheduled to testify against two co-defendants at their May 16 trial. Brown will be sentenced July 8 Following sentencing, he is expected to return to Riverside to answer to multiple molestation charges. If convicted of all local charges, Brown could face 35 sentences of 15 years to life in prison plus an additional 66 years in prison. The former Riverside police officer accused of traveling to a small Wisconsin town to have sex with boys pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court to two of four charges as part of an agreement, the prosecutor said.

Authorities said Adam James Brown, 32, belonged to a widespread Internet ring that preyed on children. They said Brown flew to Beaver Dam in south-central Wisconsin in 2002 to have sex with boys who were supplied by a Wisconsin man he met on the Internet. The encounters took place at area hotels and Brown paid the man thousands of dollars, according to court records.

On Wednesday, days before his trial was to begin, Brown pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Green Bay to one count of crossing state lines to have sex with a child and one count of producing child pornography. As part of his plea agreement, Brown has agreed to testify against two co-defendants. Brown also has been charged in Riverside County with dozens of counts of sexually assaulting boys. Prosecutors say Brown will be brought back to Riverside to answer to those charges after his federal case is over.
