Why I have come to respect Michael Schiavo...

I posted this last night, I thought I'd give it another spin along with condolences to those who knew and loved Mrs. Schiavo.

...When i first became aware of this case, I wasn't sure who/what to believe. But, whether you think the feeding tube should have been removed or not, the fact is, he is an average citizen and he has had to come up against some of the same radical, well-financed RW forces that hunted a president of the United States for 8 years and he has never blinked.

He has been fighting his in-laws and their RW allies, going all the way up to the highest corridors of power in this country, for almost as long as Clinton was in office (and he does not have the office of the Presidency to provide him with any protection from these thugs). And like Clinton, because he has done the thing that they hate the most, which is not back down in the face of their intensity, pressure, bullying and never ending assaults, he is to be targeted, maligned, smeared, and demonized for all eternity. All because he DARED to deny them their victory.

Very few people would fail to get at least a little weak in the knees if the Speaker of the House of Representative basically called you a murderer on the floor of the U.S. Congress. But, Mr. Schiavo had the chutzpah to call Tom Delay what he is on national television: a little, slithering snake.

At this point I see him as his wife's protector, yes, I said protector. He is the only thing standing between her and these souless, hypocritical ghouls who wouldn't think twice about propping her up in a wheelchair on fauxnews and having sean hannity "interview" her. Before it's over with, I expect her parents will be hawking video and audio tapes of their helpless daughter on ebay...and re: her parents, I think I can understand her bulimia now. These people will not even allow Terri her death. They cannot spend a moment with her that they don't come before the microphones to report (or make up) every twitch and moan. They have to control and possess even the final moments her life on this earth...No wonder she was stuffing herself with food and vomiting all the time. Michael seems to be the only one trying to allow her whatever dignity and privacy possible in the midst of this circus. I don't think he's a saint and you can question motives on all sides in this, but character does stand out in a crisis and I think he's got more than most in this sideshow can claim...

2. What is very telling about Michael

Less than an hour after Terri passed away, the Schneider's lawyer and their priest were right in front of the camera STILL attacking Michael.

How much you wanna bet there will be two funerals? One for Michael's side of the family and another for the Schneider's.

Guess which one will be televised.?

6. Did you see the video they released of her "talking" to them?

Her dad is asking "Does your knee hurt?" and she moans or makes some noise. He goes on to list a bunch of body parts. Sometimes she makes a noise, sometimes not, sometimes it is different or sometimes the same. I wanted to ask, so which parts hurt and which didn't? It was SICK!
