The Schiavo case and the filibuster
For any who haven't made the connection, the following is from the Christian Coalition.

After almost unanimous contempt by the state and federal judiciary -- best exemplified in the Terri Schiavo case -- for the people's branch of the American government, the United States Congress, and contempt for the executive branch, congressional leaders are vowing to address the huge imbalance between the 3 branches of government.

(snip)

There has been a cascade of tyrannical judicial decisions including taking prayer out of school, legalizing abortion-on-demand and undermining freedom of American citizens in innumerable ways. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, (R-TX) said this week, "When this tragic episode is resolved, the Supreme Court will have some serious questions to answer about its silence and arbitrary interpretation of federalism, but those questions will have to wait for now".

2. Maybe we could spell the Constitution out in really big letters and
send it to all their members. No...we'd probably have to have someone to read it to them....

4. So, will the religious fanatics do the right thing and
fight against the "conservative activist judges" like the ones who followed the law and interpreted it against the Schindler family?

Or will they still go wayyyyy off target and blame the liberals.

$10 on blaming the liberals - the alternative is less likely to occur than winning the MegaMillions and the Powerball while getting struck by lightning twice . . .

5. Oh, really, Tom?
"The Supreme Court will have some serious questions to answer?" What hubris.

While this schtick plays well with conservative voters, it pisses off judges. *All* judges, liberal and conservative, Dem and Repub.

My wife works in a federal court and her boss says that Rehnquist has been mad for years at the stingy budgets Congress and Bush have approved for the legislature. While the number of cases goes up, the number of judges, and the staff size in courts, stays the same. If Bush, DeLay and other wingnuts keep demonizing judges, Rehnquist will NEVER retire. At least not while Dubya is still in office.

So keep up the good work, Tom! (Until you get indicted, that is.)
