Jeb Bush and the Republican controlled legislature killed Terri Schiavo
They could have done something. They could have passed a law or called in the National Guard. They didn't. They are as responsible for her death as the republican controlled courts and anyone else.

They have the power and won't use it. If the govt can do what they did at waco they can allow Terri to die and who will be next?

Instead they do nothing. Bush and the republicans will be at fault.

LIKE peggy noonan said today -

The Republican Party controls the Senate, the House and the White House. The Republicans are in charge. They have the power. If they can't save this woman's life, they will face a reckoning from a sizable portion of their own base. And they will of course deserve it.

2. Jeb might as well have removed her feeding tube himself
To do nothing is tantamount to murder. Jeb will pay for this. His career is over.

5. Give Me A Break!
This was a situation that was no one else's business, except her husband (her ONLY family).

No one could have saved her. She died when she was declared brain damaged.

6. Bill Bennett? Terri is the dying martyr the Rebublican right can use
If the American principle of federalism means anything it means that the local state’s courts are the only relevant instruments to deal with such a tragedy. But that is not what American Republicanism now thinks. It has a religious drive that puts theological certitude before prudential or legal reasoning and a growing contempt for an independent judiciary.

That is how Bill Bennett, a leading conservative activist, could write last Thursday in the conservative National Review, that Jeb Bush, the Florida governor, should simply overrule the courts, break the law and send armed guards to insert the feeding tube by force. This attack on the basis of constitutional liberty in the name of religion is usually called theocracy. Polling shows that large majorities do not think the federal government should get involved.

28. As Will Pitt said
.here: http://forum.truthout.org/blog/story/2005/3/30/17036/2160
"The GOP Rift, Live and in Technicolor"

He links to this freepsite: (danger, will robinson):
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1373862/posts?q=1&&page=51
Here's an excerpt for the weak-stomached:
But it won't be Terri's death that really does the Republicans in. The Bushes will be blamed, rightly, forever, and they will be diminished in the eyes of the pro-life right.
The bigger political story is that the Republican Party in the Senate is using this as an opportunity to back away from the Constitutional Option to override the filibuster and install conservative strict-constructionalist judges.

THAT will be the betrayal, if it comes to pass, that will split the party. Millions of pro-lifers will stop contributing, stop manning the phone banks and GOTV efforts, and they will stay home, heartbroken and unrepresented. Maybe an explicitly Christian Pro-life party will be founded. More probably, the demoralized Christians will drop out of politics and turn more fully to God and the other world.

And the result of that in the material world will be a new Democratic majority. Because without the pro-life Christians, the Republicans are the minority party in America.

Mostly, the shift to Democratic dominance will hurt secular Republicans. Christian pro-life Republicans are mostly poorer, don't have much in the way of capital gains or dividends, and are in the lower tax brackets. They benefit least from the Republican tax agenda, and would be hurt the least by Democratic tax-and-spend redistribution.
At any rate, they won't CARE. They organized and voted for the GOP because THEY believe life is sacred, and they believed that the GOP was the party trying to protect life.
