Maybe that's the idea. The AARP has now been labled a leftist organization because of it's SS opinions. The other group is responsible and their membership is now taking off, oooo, lots of dues coming in. And I'm seeing a lot of these letters lately:
AARP not relevant
Re: "Attacks are not just over policy," March 27:
The article about USA Next was timely. As an AARP member, I had become increasingly suspicious that AARP was becoming motivated by a left-wing political agenda rather than the interests of its members. I was appalled when it started to run ads against changes in Social Security, not so much because it took a position but because it had the gall to use my dues money to parrot the fear-mongering and deliberate misinformation promulgated by the left wing.
I'm sure the ads make certain Democrats very happy. I wrote to the AARP to say that I thought its mission ought to be as an advocate for seniors, not as an arm of a political party, and that as a result I wanted to resign my membership.
AARP is no longer relevant to seniors and does not deserve our support. ...................... Of course, how many over 50 have now joined AARP to support their opposition? This USA Next organization is a political organization first and a seniors support group in passing.
