If you put your religion into politics do not be surprised when your
religion is treated like politics.

That is all.

9. It shouldn't be a ruh-roh - though I guess it might end up as one
I don't care if people want to mix politics and religion - that's their option.

But IMO they no longer have the right to play religious persecution when their religion is responded to in the same way.

6. When you use your religion as politics
Edited on Thu Mar-31-05 10:01 AM by DBoon
don't be surprised when politicians start telling you how to worship.

On Edit:

Some day soon, the head of a large right-leaning Christiam denomination will start getting angry calls from Karl Rove for not following white house talking points memo closely enough. These calls will include a not-so-veiled threat to pull all faith-based funding.

People who want ministers to be "free" to politically campaign from the pulpit don't realize there is a price to pay for this.

7. A person's beliefs define their values
Its rather difficult to remove one's beliefs from one's political views. What should be avoided is basing the reasons others should listen to your views based on your religion.

10. I don't think we're saying anything very different from one another
But I do think when people make their religion a part of their politics in an explicit way they have forsaken any claim to treat it is a private or sacred matter.
