Schiavo shows "how out-of-touch Repubs are w/"mainstream American values"
all the way from life and death issues, to government intrustion into private lives, to the lack of respect for the judicial process. Whether it's disrespect for individuals dealing with the toughest personal decisions, or the stripping of privacy in times of great stress, they know no limits on their self-righteousness no matter what the country thinks.

I've gotten ever sicker of Republican pretenses to being arbiters of "mainstream American values". Their behavior in sensationalizing and exploiting the Schiavo case proves, if nothing else, what a load of garbage that propaganda is.

Time to turn the tables back to facing the truth. This is one of the themes to do it with. I'd like to see Dems in the media talking about this once the tragedy has passed.

1. wow. did she show this with a powerpoint?
Because if she is capable of making a powerpoint to show something as complicated as this then maybe we WERE wrong and she IS capable of cognizant thought.

(me being a stupid smartass, sorry)

3. No shit...
The Democrats should step back and let this play out. Most people realize that they may be faced with similar decisions and are on the side of the courts' judgement on this issue. All Democrats should defer to the family (Michael), the doctors and the court's judgements and have nothing else to add.

4. It's not the Democrat's responsibility to fight against Repubs
in the process of shooting themselves.

I'd rather they exercise what very little spine they have on public policy issues like Social Security privatization or bankruptcy removal. It's hard enough to get them to fight for real principles without demanding they step into a Republican feces flingfest.

5. I'm still waiting for the repugs to define their values
since Reagan -- the terms "values", "family values", "moral values", "american values" (blahblahblah) have been thrown about by repugs -- so what are these?

isn't about time we ask them to DEFINE these terms?

It's becoming more obvious that they spin, twist and whitewash "values" to suit their political needs... They rail against feeding tube removal but ignore 15 dead at a Minnesota School.
They scream about abortion -- but do nothing to help those that have been born. They talk about the sanctity of life - yet start wars based on lies. They talk about being humble -- yet swagger about. (the list goes on)
