Gas jumped 25 cents in some areas around St. Louis Today...
I'm more sensitive to this than most, just started a job as the Ice Cream Man. Kick ass job, subcontractor, but I have to pay for my own gas. Regular was 1.99 yesterday, and today I had to pay 2.24 at the same station, Citgo of course. Its the closest station that's between my route and home base, so to speak, and I guess some stations didn't get the "news" yet to raise prices(Saw a few around still at 1.99). Yes I worked at gas stations as well, CFM(Shell), and I know how they operate on gas prices, when the call comes down, all stations are supposed to raise prices in the area, doesn't matter what the competition does, they raise the prices as well. Anyone notice an additional jump in prices overnight in other parts of the country?

2. Funny how the MSM hasn't made a peep
about this. This affects more people than Ms. Shiavo, and not a word on the TeeVee about it. (Not that the Shiavo story isn't tragic, but in the grand scheme of things, how much does her story and it's outcome affect the life of the average citizen?)

3. $45 and you can spent 10-20 cents less at COSTCO.
Buy the mainstays of your food there too and the membership is eaten up asap.

5. Yeah, but it negates the benefit of only spending 10 bucks a day...
because the nearest costco to my route is 30+ miles away. I figure Citgo is the closest to it in terms of gas stations. My vending route is pretty close to where the Ice Cream vans are located, and its only practical to go to the stations inbetween those two locations. Costco isn't anywhere near there, but Sam's Club is, I prefer the costs of Citgo over that POS store.

7. But are they going to put Terri's feeding tube back in?
I mean no disrespect, Solon. I'm just showing by example what the right wing and the MSM are doing with the Florida Freakshow -- taking our eyes off the ball, which includes real-life concerns such as gas prices, the war, the economy, etc.

8. I'm in St. Louis, too...
Our jump was even more than that--$1.95 to 2.28 in a matter of hours.

Insane. I was calling us lucky with our gas prices.

9. Really!
I just showed the examples I saw. The Citgo I'm talking about is on North Hanley, the second to last light south of I-70. My route as Ice Cream Man is in the Brentwood/Maplewood/Richmond Heights area(Yeah I cover three cities, took home over 80 dollars for 6 hours work, not bad). I go from Bermuda exit to N Hanley, and straight south to Manchester and back again, avoid the highways when possible, HATE 170 to begin with, and while I hit lights on Hanley a lot, it doesn't compare to that hell that is the end of 170 at Eager Road. BTW: Why the Fuck is "I"-170 an interstate, it doesn't even leave the freakin county!

10. Yeah, I'm in South St. Louis County (blah).
This evening, a little after 7, the Convenient Food Mart on the corner of Tesson Ferry and Mattis was $1.95/gallon. About 10:30, it was $2.28.

I hate, hate, *hate* all of our highways. 270 is a bitch.

11. Tell me about it...
Its a fucking pain in the ass to go anywhere in St. Louis County using the highways, especially at rush hour. Not to mention all the construction, accidents, and other things you find all over the place. Plus I have to take Blanchette Bridge between St. Charles and St. Louis Counties, and taking the new Page extension only would add to the hassle. It does relieve some of the traffic though, going home took a lot longer only a year ago.

I know that the situation can't be helped much around here, with two big damn rivers joining around here, we live in bridge hell.
