Leaving 45 MILLION Americans without healthcare IS MURDER!!!!
At LEAST 45 MILLION AMERICAN PEOPLE have NO means of healthcare other than an emergency room that cannot reject them,...but BILL THEIR FUTURE.

Damn. I finally get a job,...and, literally, a quarter of my take-home pay is TAKEN to just pay for "preventive" healthcare: a doctor's appointment, a couple of blood tests and a urine test EATS my paycheck?

WTF is up with that?

This country is being consumed,...by the costs of being alive.

There is something VERY WRONG,...with THAT!!!

Moreover, I recently read that over half our kids have thoughts about taking their own lives.

OUR KIDS THINK DEATH WOULD BE BETTER THAN LIVING IN THIS CULTURE!!!

,...damn,...we're hurting eachother,...

2. and not "erring" on the side of life...also 1 in 4 women have enough
fucking mercury in their bodies to cause birth defects...again, not "erring" on the side of life. Two thirds of our natural resources are GONE...GONE! Not erring on the side of life. THe earth is pissed ,and is getting warmer, which could cause a MASS extinction...even if you disagree with the science of global warming, shouldn't we "err" on the side of life?

3. But the politicians "value life"
What a joke...tell me that no American has died because of inadequate or unavailable healthcare during the Terri-feeding-tube fiasco. Nobody died because of inadequate nutrition?

No emergency bills rushed for Bush's signature fot those unfortunates.

10. Imagine,....being lucky enough to be powerless enough,...
,...to have the whole country focused on just you: someone who can say nothing.

*sigh*

And, my step/adoptive father always showed more affection and kindness towards our dog,...than, me. Of course, I had an opinion *LOL* and I cannot escape being "female".

4. Honey, that's called Capitalism. We're not a socialist country...
... and in a Capalist country, if you don't have the money to live, then you deserve to die.

And that, ladies and gentleman, is the motto of the GOP!

5. The real figure is well over 50 million people without health care, not to
Edited on Wed Mar-30-05 11:34 PM by Zinfandel
mention the ten of millions who have had their benefits cuts to make their health care almost useless. As well as tens of millions more, whose benefits offer nothing more than covering nothing, with huge deducibles...

It is a national disgrace, and the republicans couldn't give a shit less!!!

When President Clinton tried to get Universal health care for all Americans like every other industrial nation in the world...The AMA, insurance companies, talk radio, republican politicians, etc. crucified Clinton and lied about what Clinton's plan was really all about.

The greedy right-wing neocons don't give a shit about anyone who's poor, or a dying baby of color, or even the middle class for that matter...The republican pigs are selfish, smug assholes who really believe they are better and deserve more and fuck everyone else!!!

7. Yes, a local health insurer who raised their rates by 30%
recorded record profits last year. They have record profits; many people had to drop their health insurance altogether because of the cost.

12. Preventative healthcare that's actually IN THE INTERST OF YOUR EMPLOYER
It even makes good business sense: A little bit of universal healtcare would save the American economy hundreds of billions of dollars a year in lost work. In the long run, Universal HC is good for the economy.

That's the way the debate must be framed if we're ever going to win it. THe fact that it's true that it makes good economic sense doesn't hurt either.

My most recent job, in fact, was w/ the county: the new fad is hiring two part-timers w/ no benefits and 1/3 less pay than full-timers. By not providing full pay or health insurance, they save the taxpayers a lot of money. My contention was always that by providing healthcare and free gym membership to the county recreation gyms, they'd save just as much money, yet have employed people with a safety net.

Alas, The Shrub has cut funding to law enforcement every year for the last five years running (what kind of freaking Repuke is soft on crime, fer chrissakes!?!), so my days in that job were numbered. Oh well, I was meant for nobler things anyhow...
