Ari Fleischer's yakking up his book- boasts of leak proof WH
snip>
Fleischer said reporters' biggest complaint about President Bush is that his administration doesn't leak. People are loyal to the president and generally don't discuss what happens in meetings behind closed doors.

That irritates reporters, Fleischer said, who are looking for conflict and scoops.

Fleischer said Bush learned from his father's presidency that leaks often lead to stories that emphasized conflict inside the administration. The younger Bush was determined not to let that happen during his terms.

Isn't it interesting how bush's staff, loyal by design, doesn't leak to the press?

WHO OUTED PLAME??? AND IS BUSH COMPLICIT? :grr:

1. It sure is the most disiplined WH in history.
Except maybe during WWII.

If anything leaks out, it was meant to. Anything else would be regarded as national treason by this cabal.

It'll be decades before we hear of the "enforcers" that currently work the inner perimeter.

2. I just finished "All the President's Men" for the first time.
So this kind of subject is on my brain at the moment. I have to agree...the Bush WH has been incredibly tight.

I see that as a huge failure though, a shameful accomplishment, not an laudable achievement. Leaks keep people honest, especially when digested by a vigorous press.

Congrats, Ari: When you can combine a tight WH discipline with a crippled, declining media....you win! And democracy loses.

Sigh.

3. Yeah - it is all the same crowd. They all know each other. They all
worked for Nixon, then Reagan, then Bush and now Bush Jr. The loudmouths have all been flushed out. There are only 15 of them. These guys don't even allowed the Join Chiefs in on the discussion. They drink each others ****. How could there possibly be a leak?

4. That's because they have to take the anal sex test
of allegiance. It's part of the Bush employment screening process.

5. Sorry, I only read nonfiction!
He should stick to topics like "Big Time Theft for Dummies"!
