Today 24,000 people died of starvation , 8,500 died from AIDS and 2,700
died from malaria. Where is the outrage? Where are the vigils and the round the clock media coverage? Are some lives more precious than others?

1. Have you read "America the Book?"
There's a great part on the relative value of life around the world.

2. Do you mean Jon Stewart's book?
I bought it and my son confiscated it and I haven't seen it since. Thanks for reminding me.

4. Yeah.
It's awful but true.

The part I'm referring to basically shows that an American's life is worth x amount of European, xx amount of Asian, and xxxxx amount of African lives in the eyes of the media.

And people wonder how Darfur and the Congo and Rwanda happen.

6. You can say that again.
On second thought, don't. It's too heartbreaking. All this over 1 person when the countless go uncared for in the world.

Damn hypocrites, put's it mildly.

8. Maybe, instead of spending billions on slaughtering children in Iraq...
we should be spending it to save the lives of starving children?

14. Quick, look! Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt have split. And now...
Edited on Wed Mar-30-05 11:25 PM by Kerrytravelers
he might be dating Angelina Jolie. And guess what? Serena and Venus are getting their own reality show. So are Brittney and Kevin. I can hardly wait. I wonder who is going to be voted off American Idol. DId you see Nanny 911. I can't believe those people. Oh, that reminds me, I just love that Ty from Trading Spaces. He has his own show now. Arnold was on it the other night. And guess who else has their own show from Trading Spaces? Gen! Town Haul. And then, when I was reading through People Magazine, they did a story on how Jennifer Aniston is getting along without Brad now. On Entertainment Tonight, they showed the divorce papers she filed in Los Angeles, and took the legal name Aniston back. OMG. It's so sad. Oh, wait, I have to vote for American Idol. I love pop music. I can't believe they are going after the King of Pop. He is so not like that Scott Peterson guy. Did you see that move starring Dean Cain as Scott? You know, that cute guy from Superman who use to date Brooke Shields? He had a baby with his girlfriend, but they never got married. I was totally surprized that Brittney got married, especially to that Kevin guy. I always figured she marry Justin, but he's dating Cameron Diaz, who has her own show Trippin on MTV now. MTV will be showing Trippin, Jessica and Nick, Ashely and the Brittney and Kevin show all back to back.

WHat was that people were saying about Iraq? Democracy is totally being spread over there now that Saddam, you know, that guy who sent those pilots to blow up those buuildings has been caught and put in prison. We're so much safer now.

EDITED TO ADD:

I was so distracted, I forgot to mention that I am too distracted from all the news on CNN and MSNBC to understand everything. I trust the news. They just report the facts that we need to know... right?

10. And one of us is dying from leukemia. Who cares?
If every life has value, why isn't each one of our lives being advocated?

Face it: human beings have FAILED, miserably, in proving value of human life.

13. Yes, but then there are those who by throwing themselves into the midst of
midst of the Terri Schiavo drama feel that they are doing their part to value human life. They are convinced that they have done enough; no need to look any farther.

It's so sad.

26. Yeah, the people that like to quote the Bible so much
tend to forget the part where Christ talked about the least of our brethren. I don't recall Jesus putting any qualifiers on the statement.
