I deeply apologize to anyone offended by my Jessie Jackson threads:
Edited on Wed Mar-30-05 09:01 PM by goodboy
I see the right wing trying to destroy our court, and our right to privacy. I see a moral side to this story, and a political one, and I will vigorously support anyone's right to say what they want and take a moral stand on any issue...I really will and I do, even if I do not agree.

But we should be wary of lying down with dogs as they say, and be extrememly careful not to add legitimacy to what the repukes are trying to do politically, because we've involved ourselves based on our moral convictions. I am not withdrawing my comments, and I'm not ashamed of what I said. I just feel bad if I hurt other people's feelings.

So for what it's worth...I am sorry.

I'll be gooder.

Goodboy.

1. It's a discussion board, my friend
We discuss things.

I understand the position you took (not saying whether I agree or disagree), and I'm grateful for the give and take that it generated.

No apologies needed - at least from my vantage point.

certainly am not withdrawing my comments, nor looking for sympathy in any way.

I feel bad if I hurt other people's feelings...one of the hazards of being a liberal I guess.

2. I agree with your posts. JJ, like so many, is ignorant
of the facts of this dispute.

18. I have had it up to HERE with
people telling me about their "faith", their values, their morality, their religion and their relationship with Christ. Being a religious freak and having a "personal relationship with Christ" does not give you a pass from the standards and laws of this country. How many "Christians" have I seen on TV lying their asses off about the Sciavo case and slandering Michael Sciavo? These people are always given deference because after all, they are "people of faith." Jackson now stands on the same side with people who are threatening the lives of doctors, lawyers, judges and politicians because they deign to disagree with their position, or heaven forbid, have chosen to uphold the law. Fuck these crazy people and their phony "Chsritianity" and fuck Jesse Jackson for allingning himself with them.

5. Why Apologize?
A Blood Smeared Shirt and an Interview on TV can get one far in America...

Ah...those were the daze...Rainbow Coalitions in the 80s...and Jesse who is now reduced to Michael Jackson and barking in Florida...

6. I'll say this, one thing that I saw right away, is that it seems like this
is a 'different' JJ. No passion, just responses. Looked weird to me.

but thank you for your sentiment.

14. Why Thank Me...
I remeber Jesse on the 'Lou Grant' show...

Oh and that nightclub fire in Chicago...

Or garment workers in NC...

But other than that...'a beacon of Liberal admiration'

19. something everyone might have missed...
Is it possible Jesse is actually being politically clever here?

I saw him on the news, taking the moral side of the Schiavos and essentially putting his money where his mouth is... something Jeb and his cronies refuse to do.

Remember, this is a time at which the Republicans feel betrayed by Jeb, and Jesse is strongly pushing the meme that Jeb could still do more. Meanwhile, Jeb is forced to essentially stammer his way through public statements of resignation (legit or not) and basically look like the Pilate that the conservatives are accusing him of being.

Could it be... think just for a moment... that Jesse is consciously driving a wedge between conservatives and their desired favorite for '08? My prediction is that this incident will be Jeb's Chappaquidick... the incident that drives public opinion so much against him that he gives up his presidential ambitions.

Just a thought...
