Ruthless Reviews' take on Sean Hannity
<snip>

The willingness to openly flaunt his ignorance, rather than disguise it with a bunch of horseshit, is what sets Hannity apart from the other right-wing nut jobs. Only Hannity argues strictly by shouting meaningless slogans, no matter how irrelevant they are to the point at hand and no matter how flat, tired or retarded they are. Hannity is Wally George with no camp value. Rush Limbaugh is a talented broadcaster with a modest gift for sophistry, whereas Hannity is a modestly talented broadcaster who rarely bothers with even false logic. Dr. Laura is a ridiculous dogmatist who can operate rationally within her ridiculous dogma. Hannity is a bellowing sloganeer who might not be able to define "dogma." Michael Savage, my favorite of the lunatic bunch, delivers amusing, mostly crazed rants. If Hannity had been born in Berlin in 1920, he would have ended up shoving the corpse of one of Savage's relatives into an incinerator. Happily.

2. I like the "happily" part.
Kind of reminded me of the photo of the smiling military woman in the American-run torture chamber in Iraq.

4. Just a side note ...
Does everyone here know that Fox, MSNBC and the GOP pay debate coaches to "rehearse" talent like Hannity, O'Reilly, and many of their frequent expert "guests?" These folks not only get talking points, they get debating tips and practice at delivering them as well.

I hate Hannity (et. al.,) as much as ruthlessreviews does, but I recognize that he is *very* successful with his core audience. He is not abusive, belocose by mistake or accident. Please note how often a guest served to Hannity as cannon-fodder, looks surprised and can't get a word in edgewise. This is not by accident, and Hannity wouldn't continue to do it if it didn't work, and work well.

Liberal hosts need to come up with a counter strategy that works, or we will continue to lose debates to the likes of Hannity with the nieve voters who decide elections these days. We don't have to be like Hannity, but we can't continue to be nice guys who obfuscate issues on TeeVee and hope to win in 2006.

5. Well said - but how do we get traction for the idea at the DNC - where ego
is not in short supply - and they can be herded as easily as cats and DU folks.
