The morning of 9/11 I turned off the TV; usually I would have CNN or MSNBC on in the background as I ironed a shirt or packed some lunch. But that morning it was sharks and Chandra Levi and it was particularly annoying. So I turned off the tube -- at 8:30 or so. I didn't find out what was going on until 10:45 Eastern time, when both towers had already fallen.
