DU Personal Finance/Investing Group
Would anyone be interested in a group in which we discuss and advise on matters of personal finance and investment? I was thinking of forming such a group with other people that are interested in this area.

I've been watching the daily LBN MarketWatch threads from ozzy and 54 & co. for awhile and have been hoping that finance would get it's own group...or forum.

Good job folks!

15. yes I'm interested
However, I thought the issue was raised before and it was shot down by those who thought we shouldn't discuss finance on the internet. Me, I would tend to assume we're all adults here, and we are free to toss around our opinions, with the caveat that nobody knows the future when it comes to investment. I would be happy to chip in my little fund of knowledge, although most of my information will be in the area of personal finance/saving money rather than in getting high returns on investment.

22. Yes - and a question
My wife is a Certified Financial Planner, with a Masters in Retirement Planning and a gaggle of financial designations. Having thirty+ years in the financial field, I can guarantee you she knows her stuff.

Would it be helpful to anyone here is she was available (within this new group) to answer questions? She is a registered poster here on DU, but has only a handful of posts and can't start her own threads yet.

I am guessing she would be interested, but I don't want to force anything on anyone.

If you could let me know (either in this thread or via PM) if this would be helpful, I'll pass it along to her.

Thanks.

How much different would this be then the economic forum out there right now. Is this more for specific investments, stock discussion?

30. It doesn't so much have to do with economic issues as it does with
personal issues regarding investments and financial positions. It is not really a political forum in the same way the economics forum is, though political discussions may make their way in just because they always do. I hope that we can look at investments and personal finance objectively and bounce ideas and advice off eachother in this group.

Now I have cash in the bank, and would prefer to do something more investment-like with it. And there is no place to go, to get straight info.
