Edited on Wed Mar-30-05 09:56 AM by mopaul
we americans are totally oppressed and dominated and powerless to do anything whatsoever to stop our insane 'leaders', and for that, we apologize to the world.

we can't help it, so lay off. we can't stop them, we can't reach them, we can't control them, all we can do is obey them, ignore them and allow them to do whatever the fuck it is they want, unabated.

sorry. we are the powerless americans, give us a break. we don't have a clue what to do, do you?

note: sarcasm mode ON.

1. They really do give us a break
My experience with people from other countries, especially Europe, is that while they loathe our government, they still like us. I find it helps to mention that you can't stand Bush when travelling abroad, though ;-)

2. Well, looking at a lot of countries...
they'd probably say we should storm the government with torches and pitchforks.

5. Yep, we need a mass movement out on the street, each and every day
We had one during the weekend of the 19th, but the Schiavo diversion took it off the airwaves. Perhaps what is needed is a general strike, like those in Europe. Everybody out on the streets with nothing getting done. That will force the networks to cover domestic dissedence.

I've been talking with a number of Europeans lately, and while they still hold great affection for ordinary Americans, they wonder how in the hell we could be so dumb as to elect the moron, why we're not up in arms about fraudulent vote counting, and why we're not out in the streets. Come to think of it, so am I.

3. someones feeling a bit beat down today
but chin up. the fights not over yet.

There have been many times in American history that people have gone through this, and after a time of civil unrest, we manage to pull through.

We know we are not alone and more than half this country still looks to make this country a better place.

Just gonna take some time and unforutnately more heartache to get there. But we'll get there eventually.

8. I can relate, and understand where your coming from
and yes, I wonder what it would take to finally get enough people riled up to get off their asses and go DO something about it.

Draft and overturning Roe v Wade are 2 things I'm sure would spark a revolution.

But unfortunately, most senarios involve an "after the fact" event to spark them.

6. That's silly
We can protest.

Oh wait, our leaders, while ignoring those protests, just use protests to prove their point. See? Freedom of speech. You're free to say whatever you like, because your opinion means jack.

We can vote them out.

Oh wait, we can't. Thank you Bob and Todd Urosevich.

We can boycott their companies.

Oh wait, it's not that simple. They own everything. They're global corporations. They have crap made somewhere else, and they can make money somewhere else. Plus, it's easy to buy our wants at Wal-Mart.

We can...uh...hmm....I don't know.

Democracy: It only slows down the power accumulation process, it doesn't stop it.

12. We are NOT the best country in the wold anymore
and thats a fact Jack.

The American Dream has become a nightmare, we are being controlled AGAINST the will of the people by a Theocratic Facism. The fundamentalists are out of control and the government is egging them on. The media is corrupt and partisan to the RW agenda with small exceptions, with only independant and NON Mainstream venues to try and keep the truth flowing. And they are actively seeking to try and squash the internet blogging now too. To further silence the people from having a voice.

13. More people are immigrating to Europe than the U.S.
You need to get caught up on recent events.

Immigration is higher in Europe than in the U.S.

And as far as the fascination with the rest of the world, we live in a global economy whether you like it or not.

Our standing in the world matters to our economy.

Stick around and watch what happens as the rest of the world turns away from the dollar.
