Just saw a commercial that was for "savethefillibuster.org"
Had a Republican fireman saying America works best when no one Party has absolute power and talks about the movie Mr Smith Goes to Washington

Very effective

1. all well and good -- but......
GOPers still hold the upper hand or in this case the big bomb...
The Shaivio case will be pointed out how "activist judges" make new law -- although this isn't true in this case the GOPers don't care about truth

Ask Joe-six-pack if a fillibuster is good or not -- and you'll get a blank stare "uhhhh, what's a fillibuster?" -- at best they may know that judges were blocked using a fillibuster.

Sadly -- I don't see the sheeple getting behind this issue in large enough numbers because they don't understand what a fillibuster is, what it does and how it's going to effect them in the long run regarding judges...

2. the gop are stupid to kill the fillibuster rule
because, seeing how things are going in this country, it could very well be that they will be in a minority in the Senate after the '06 elections. What with SS, the Schaivo fiasco, neverending war, and high gas prices, many many are disgusted with the GOP (I heard one fellow say, "They said they'd fix everything our way if they had complete power, but they've done NOTHING."). I predict that a lot of people who voted GOP in '04 won't do so next year.
