Sean Hanity - Openly asking Jesse Jackson to become a Republican
Flipping through the channels I ran over the Faux News crap with Sean Hannity badgering Jesse Jackson to vote Republican telling him there was hope for him yet for having supported some repulican... what the hell is wrong with these people.

I don't agree with Jackson, but he is saying what he thinks and that is his right, but that is so completely inappropriate to be asking him to vote Republican at the end of an interview. If I pulled that shit in any of the journalism classes or when I wrote for my school paper I'd have been asked to leave and not come back.

2. Good for him.
And I know this is cynical of me, but I just think Jackson is out after some publicity.

8. This is shrewd politics for Jackson.
1. He's a black clergyman, whose base is under direct assault by numerous Fundie/GOP-aligned black clergymen.

2. By speaking out on a religious basis, he can consolidate his base and bring back some of the straying flock.

3. He has not condemned the Democrats nearly so much as others who have voiced sympathy for the 'Plug Terri In' crowd. His words:

...While he has sided with the Schindlers, Jackson said in a statement last week that he had "serious misgivings about the appropriateness of Congress intervening with the legal court process on a specific, individual matter." <...> "a consistent moral and ethical position would extend a feeding tube to all who are confronted with starvation -- to demand public, government policy to feed the hungry."

4. He gets to run against the intentional smear the GOP tried to apply on all Dems, by voicing a religious objection to withholding artificial life support.

It's politics, people. Don't implode. He's not turning GOP'er.

9. And, can you lose by defending the life of a dying
helpless soul? It's hard to say that he is wrong for making this gesture, even if it is only a gesture.

12. Yeah, kinda
when you step in at the end of it all and show up at the hospice in a limo and start going on cable tv with Sean Hannity.

Sorry for the cynicism but there are many dying helpless souls out there and for him to start making the rounds in support of Schiavo at this late date - well what can I say, it smacks of political opportunism just like all the rest.

15. If he'd done it a week ago, I'd agree. Then, it would have been damaging.
Now, it's logical, given his frame of reference.

20. Stay out of it.
Tell thenm he would pray for her, tell them she would soon be free of her suffering. Tell them that he would not exploit their suffering.

THere's a lot he could have done without adding to the media circus.

23. Sorry
but these people have no credibility anymore. They have Randall Terry shilling for them. They have lied, manipulated and turned their daughter's plight into a three ring circus.

Sucking Jackson into this is just another ploy at media attenition. These people do not give a rat's ass about Jackson or his Rainbow Coalition or its values. The fact that he is letting them use him is sad, to me.

11. His Keywords with Hanity ....
seemed to me to be "developing long term health-care, 45 milion Americans without proper health-care coverage. And something as to let this be the begining voice of that movement" So I was okay with it even if I think Terri should be allowed to rest in peace finally. Peace.

13. Didn't Jesse Jackson start the "Rainbow Coalition" that brought
...the vast majority of the black vote into the democratic party? Do you think Jesse is making these moves toward the republican camp to scare the democratic party into giving blacks a greater voice?

What about Louis Farrakhan? He has been uncharacteristically quiet throughout all of this.

Minister Louis Farrakhan
All Opposition To Truth Will Be Destroyed
By the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan
Updated Mar 17, 2005, 07:20 am

<sniP>
The Holy Qur’an teaches us that, when an unrighteous person brings us news, we should look carefully into it, lest we harm a person in ignorance and then be sorry for what we do.

Personal attacks on our opponents are forbidden in our representation of truth. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad warned Malcolm X, when he personally attacked the moral character of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., that he should never do this again. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad told Malcolm that we have every right to attack the program, philosophy and ideas of an individual, but personal attacks for those of us in the public life is not proper and will prove to be counterproductive. Whenever we speak of the ills of our Brothers and Sisters, we should not speak in a manner that only reproves or rebukes, but we should encourage that person to better conduct, then we will not be in denial of the process of redemption that Master Fard Muhammad, the Great Mahdi, started on His Coming to North America. We have a lot to learn to keep ourselves from the fishermen’s net (Satan’s evil plans against us).

So, my dear Brothers and Sisters who believe in Islam and are following the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, under my Leadership, keep your eyes focused on the goal and do not let anything or anyone take you and your focus from the establishment of the program of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. Remember, and be comforted by, the Biblical scripture which says, “No weapon formed against the righteous will prosper.” No hypocrite or devil will be allowed to get the upper hand over a True Believer. Allah (God) alone is the Judge. Therefore, be careful in our attempts to judge one another, lest we be in danger of being judged. Follow the laws of Islam. Carry them into practice. Your Brother in the Faith is he who respects the laws of Allah (God) and seeks to carry them into practice. Keep the brotherhood strong. Stop wanton criticism and attacks on everything that is Black owned and operated.

Stop displaying public hatred or dislike for one another. Do not give our open enemies the ammunition that they seek to use in furthering division and confusion, causing Brothers to fight and kill one another. Respect yourself and do good to yourself. Never be the aggressor. We are only permitted to fight with those who fight with us. If we do these things, we will overcome all opposition and we will be with Allah’s Apostle in Victory. In fact, whenever your enemy writes or speaks evil against the Nation, rise up. Fight harder with the truth. Double your sales and distribution of the newspaper. Double your charity to the Cause of Islam. Double your efforts to bring Lost-Found Brothers and Sisters to the Light of Truth. Remember, all opposition to Truth is doomed to failure and complete destruction. Get on the side of Truth and Justice and stay there!
