Are canadian same sex marriages recognized in the US?
I just heard a radical right winger say that there is a US law that states canadian marriages are to be recognized in the US.

He stated that because of this gay couples in the US were going to canada to get married, then returned to the states and have the marriage recognized.

Is this true? If true this would be excellent news IMO. If not, is he at least correct about the US law that states canadian marriages must be recognized in the states? If so perhaps a case could be made in court...

2. It's pretty much true
Think of it, it would be chaos if we didn't recognize other countries' marriages. Same thing with marriages within the US accepted by all states.

4. So ....
... under this law, is Canada regarded as a "State, territory, possession, or tribe"? Which one? Inquiring minds want to know.

No mention of other countries there.
