"BARBARA BUSH ARE YOU PROUD OF YOUR SONS NOW?"

I see the protestors are giving the 70 dying Woodside Hospice patients a nice, serene last Easter Sunday to enjoy with their families. It's touching the way they listened to the Schindlers and went home to leave the hospice in peace! In the last picture, protestors in wheelchairs block the entrance so NO family members can visit.

1. Sometimes I hate the fact that I was born in
a country founded on religious fundamentalism.

5. Well.. the colonies were. The US was not, but there is still a strong
streak of puritanism that came over here with those repressed fucks.

8. We definitely have puritanical/repressed blood flowing through our veins.
"Our" meaning the collective "our" that is this country. What is ironic is Europe seems to have evolved beyond it. (I know, freepers, 'then move to France blah blah blah'.)

7. It wasn't. Read what Madison had to say about that.
and he wasn't the only one. The Deists, products of the Enlightenment, are who founded the country, not the Puritans who had landed here a hundred and forty or so years earlier.

Religious nutbars seem to forget that people had rejected Puritanism by the time the Declaration of Independence was signed, the war fought and won, and the country reorganized under the constitution.

Fundies, alas, will always be with us. The eternal vigilance which is the price of freedom is the vigilance to spot them early and keep them the hell out of government.

We have a lot of work ahead of us before the 2006 election.

10. I know...
our founding fathers didn't. Was speaking about the Puritans, of course. But I truly think that that original founding had some sort of influence on why Americans are so turned on to fundamentalism these days.

16. I've never been so turned off to religion. These people are killing it.
I don't belong to a church, I"m not officially any denomination, I have my suspicions, but belief is a strong word, but I'd always left open the possibility of taking a good look at what religious organization made sense to me at some point, and joining one of them.

At this point, I'm just waiting for someone to come up to me and "spread the word" or ask me if I'm "saved" so that I can tell them to get the fuck away from me and mind their own damned business.

These wackos have just about killed orgainzed religion for me.

29. I'm with you
Two days ago I finally had enough, and wrote a doctor I had seen last February. I told him all this Shiavo stuff got me thinking about him.

You see, I had been seeking help for chronic pain (specified below) for 15 years (coincidence?). This pisswad told me that "until I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal savior, I would never get any better". Yes, this is the DIAGNOSIS in the office visit record.

I told him less than a month after my visit, my neck finally collapsed, I've since been diagnosed with major stenosis in my lower back, and a large cyst on my knee. My spine is continuing to collapse.

I went on to tell him my SAVIOR is the pain clinic doctor who worked a MIRACLE by putting me on a Fentanyl patch, and that I finally have some relief. I discussed the 15 years he and his ilk had stolen from me.

I wished him to be struck by lightening the next time he went golfing, with all the money he had made from his bogus diagnoses.

Oh....he also signed that petition the other day. George Lawry II (come to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics and be healed..we have no ethics, but you can find jeezus).

I told him he would be highly recommended by me in person, and all over the internet. I told him when I felt up to it, there would be a whole site dedicated to him, and his kind.

Let them try to sue me for whatever. I can't sue them due to the length of time they screwed me around.
