What about his effect on others?

Of course Tommy Chong was trying to cut the best deal for HIMSELF. The Baby Boomer generation is all about SELF.
Up in Smoke was about making himself rich. Denying his own work was about making himself safe.

But he didn't make himself rich, he did that with the help of others. Those others are paying the price. Those others are suffering every day in this war.

It's an insult to everyone who has ever suffered in this war for Tommy Chong to publicly debase himself like this to save his own skin.

And the sickest thing of all was that this public debasement was all over a measly one year in prison. His debasement of himself only bought him three months.

For all the money he has made from marijuana and from marijuana users, he could have stepped up and taken a one year bullet for the movement and kept his dignity and helped raise ours.

How many years has he been able to live like a rich man thanks to us?

He can't spare one of those years for the cause?

Well now he's going to give up nine months, and he's missed any opportunity he had to make it matter.

19. I know for a fact how screwy the court system can be

my exwife had ten years of illegal recordings of me and my son.. when my nearly 17 year old son admitted to me on the phone that he'd smoked pot I told him that he'd get kicked out of school, I'd get a Judge to rip him out of that house (which would be the SECOND custody trial - and he's always wanted to live with his dad), that no Judge would keep him in a home where he could do that kind of thing..

well, after I lost the custody trial (yep, my ex used that illegal tape, the Alabama Judge allowed it to screw a LIBERAL California guy - me, who has NO RECORD of any kind) the ex brought charges against me for "Contributing to the Deliquency of a Minor".. remember this was from over 2000 miles away and based on the ex and the JUdge thinking that the INFLECTION of my VOICE caused my son to be a delinquent!!

Both cases are on appeal, at great cost, GREAT COST -- I needed TWO lawyers, one from down there in Alabama, and one from Los Angeles -- and the Southern Judge SENTENCED me to ONE YEAR in THEIR county jail.. imagine that, I have NO DRUGS in my body, the kid hasn't smoked ONCE after that admittance (two years ago now), my ex has a record as long as your arm which includes biting her live in boyfriend TWICE, she's driven my kids around while drunk (CHILD ABANDONMENT on her RECORD) and between her and her husband they both have NINE ALCOHOL related ARRESTS (3rd degree assault in her case)---

and *I* am the unfit parent who is supposed to be Jailed over pot for my inflection in my voice..

so don't anyone tell me about JUSTICE or what you'd say in court.. it's all bullshit, this Judge in Alabama is sentencing people on a WHIM..

so I say, FREE TOMMY CHONG.. go after some REAL FREAKING Criminals like Ken Lay, murderers, rapists, etc..

There is no Justice in american anymore and we are the laughing stock of the planet...

If we get BUSH and co out maybe we can get some respect back, but probably not in my lifetime..
