Fox News' new name: The Psychic News Network

Fox News declares, "Real journalism: fair and balanced."

Psychic John Edward appeared in person as a guest on the March 24 broadcast of "Fox & Friends" on the cable channel.

The psychic announced about Terri Schiavo, "She's definitely clear on what's happening now around her."

The problem with this: All psychics are frauds.

Fox News isn't "real journalism" or "fair and balanced."

Let's call Fox the "Psychic News Network" as a takeoff on Dionne Warwick's "Psychic Friends Network."

Perhaps John is referring to Terri's soul hovering around her body (aka OBE or its likes) ;)

BTW, I would not say that *all* psychics are frauds. I've seen cases (even witnessed by my hardcore militant atheist friends) where psychics were able to offer accurate information (no cold reading here, mind you). That being said, there's a lot of BS in the psychic profession anyway.

That is so not the same as that her person is aware or that her soul would mind the body passing on.

As far as that goes John would say that if she were dead... Our soul and our bodies are not one and the same. I only heard the blurb on the Daily Show and in itself I would agree with it, though it sounds bad out of context. If I heard the whole interview I don't know if it would sound better or worse.

Our souls are much more aware then we are, whether we are wise and educated, a guru, a peasant or in a vegetative state.

I am writing as though I am, and I am saying that the blurb I heard is essentially true. Of course her soul is aware, that just doesn't mean her soul wants the body to stay alive.

Since John's "specialty", faked or real, was communicating with the dead, claiming they had awareness even without the body, it means nothing that he'd say someone had it whatever shape the body was in. The soul is not the mind. But he also says that the dead aren't hung up on their death, it's the transition. I doubt he would claim it is important to her that the body remains alive.

My understanding was that he communicates with the dead. Therefore, when he said that she was aware what was happening, it would indicate to me that she (her spirit) had passed over and was indeed aware of what was happening (and probably outraged). If her soul is "hovering about," it means she cannot "pass over." He fucked up his own 'logic!'

BTW, I also agree that not all psychics are frauds. Even good ones can get it wrong. Hell look at the station we are talking about, they say they are journalists, but they sure ain't! And, even the few that are, do occasionally get it right. So why are psychics always expected to be "right on the nose?" :)

The question is why John Edward can't just say what the dead are saying outright without fishing around for info guessing letters of the alphabet a dearly departed person's name might start with.

Maybe this isn't new, I don't watch Faux if I can help it, but while station-hopping this afternoon we saw a woman doing a workout on the Faux News studio floor using two plastic plates, while the female anchor looked on and asked questions. They even gave a website name and showed the box so "you too can own your very own"!! It was really chintzy stuff -- the kind of thing I never imagined even Faux would sink to.

I'd block the damn station if my husband didn't rely on them so for getting to the car chases before everyone else.

Psychic medium, author, and former television host John Edward claimed on Fox News' morning show Fox & Friends that Terri Schiavo is "definitely clear on what's happening now around her." Edward was responding to a question from host Steve Doocy about whether Edward could communicate with Schiavo.

Edward, whose website says that he has "helped thousands with his uncanny ability to predict future events and communicate with those who have crossed over to the Other Side," was on the show to promote his new book, Practical Praying: Using the Rosary to Enhance Your Life (Hay House, 2005). Edward was the host of the nationally syndicated TV show Crossing Over with John Edward, which aired on the Sci Fi Channel before being canceled in 2004. In October 2001, Edwards taped a segment of Crossing Over in which he "purport to contact victims of the World Trade Center attacks," according to a Washington Post article. But the episode was canceled for fear of offending the public. According to the Post, "production house Studios USA axed the whole idea after reporters and station execs -- the two least queasy segments of society -- actually cringed."

EDWARD: I do believe that the soul, the consciousness, can communicate when they're in a state, whether it be a mentally incapacitated person, someone who's in a coma. It's a consciousness, and the soul has a living consciousness. So whether it's in a physical vehicle or not, there is still the ability to connect. Many people will have what they call out-of-body experiences, or astral dreams. Two very living people, that are healthy, could have a kind of connection in a dream state that can be validated. So why not somebody who's in this case?
