60% of Americans still think invading Iraq was right thing to do
Edited on Sun Sep-14-03 11:19 AM by NNN0LHI
What does this really mean? It means 60% of Americans do not care about people dying and being maimed. Don't matter if they are Americans, Iraqis, or who ever is doing the dying. As long as it is not them that is. 60% of Americans could give two shits if they were lied to about the reasons we invaded Iraq. Or if Iraq did or didn't have WMD's. They just don't care. I don't like this. But I am afraid we are never going to change that. No matter what we say or do.

So what are people really concerned with then? People are worried if they will have a job to provide a roof over their head and food to eat, and a warm place to sleep. That is what matters to them. It has come down to the basics of life. The rest is just meaningless window dressing to them. And they really don't even want to hear about it.

I have changed my attitude on the the best way to defeat Bush next year. And war and terrorism is no longer my top concern because death and destrucion will not do it. The economy is number one. The rest is just a distraction to get peoples minds off of what is really important to them. This is the truth. Sad, but true. If you don't believe me, look at all of the polls and see what peoples number one concern is and you will see that it is jobs and the economy. Everyone of them shows this. And we can't keep ignoring that fact.

8. The Blue States are more populous
A lot of the red states aren't. So I find that 60% figure very high.

4. They think that Iraq was retaliation for 9/11.
That's how this administration subliminally marketed the strike on Iraq. And as long as Americans think that Iraq was behind 9/11, the polls will always be high.

5. WTF
:wtf: A bit further down in LBN is a poll saying 60% of people don't approve of spending the 87billion on the war. What makes the assholes think they can have it both ways?

7. It Means that 60% of "Americans"
Are motherf**kers. It means that 60% of "Americans" are inherently evil. It means that 60% of American support Bush. It means that 60% of "Americans" are our enemies. It means 60% of "Americans" care only about themselves, their beer, their SUVs/Pickups, their NASCAR, and their football over peace and justice. It means we don't have much of a chance in 2004 because 60% of "Americans" want to see lots and lots of brown people blown apart, gutted, etc. in payback for 9/11.

It means we are and will continue to be screwed by the cabal and that 60% of so-called "Americans" think that screwing is just fine, thank you very much.

Fuck them all and may god-fuck the United States of America.

11. That is right
My own brother who applied for deferment after deferment to avoid going to Vietnam thought invading Iraq was a great idea. Not becuase it was the right thing to do. It was because he had hopes that it would bring back his stock portfolio which was once worth $250,000.00 dollars and is now worth less than $40,000.00. Don't think he is the only one. Because he is not.

13. Ignorance is a dismal fact of life.
When ignorance and misconception are cultivated as bulwarks supporting a corrupt and dangerous government, it becomes an even more vexing, dismal fact of life.

However, the war is related to jobs and the economy, of course, and that is one of the reasons the $87 billion sting is ringing like an alarm. The longer reservists and NG's are pounding sand, the wider the ripples of economic and social dislocation will spread, to become political problems.

Given the current nadir of our media's fulfillment of constitutional, free speech duties, it is unrealistic to expect most citizens to "do the right thing", or even know what makes up "the right thing". Another dismal fact of life. But some knowledge of the situation is seeping through, and more probably will over time. Some of the 60% are clinging to rationales and positions because reversing or modifying their view is painful, given the fine fix we are in. Time will erode the 60% toward 50%, and then lower.

War is a racket. It does not help the economy. It helps the racketeers.
The battle for regime change should continue on all fronts, foreign and domestic, because all the tracks lead back to the same black hole in the White House, sucking our country away.
