'Fox Blocker' Aims to Block Channel
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/news/archive/2005/03/25/entertainment/e123501S04.DTL

It's not that Sam Kimery objects to the views expressed on Fox News. The creator of the "Fox Blocker" contends the channel is not news at all.

Kimery figures he's sold about 100 of the little silver bits of metal that screw into the back of most televisions, allowing people to filter Fox News from their sets, since its August debut.

The Tulsa, Okla., resident also has received thousands of e-mails, both angry and complimentary — as well as a few death threats.

"Apparently the making of terroristic threats against those who don't share your views is a high art form among a certain core audience," said Kimery, 45.

1. I called my local cable provider and asked them
to block Fox on my home TV. I told them exactly why and copied the e-mail to Fox. That channel stopped working the ame day.

4. Wow
That's pretty nifty. I just don't turn it on there. Plus I'm sure it's cheaper. ;)

6. I would hope DUers and yourself are a bit brighter than that....
...and simply not watch Fox News.

Reminds me of the various hucksters fleecing the wingers.

5. Imagine if you could get
whole cities and towns to use them or have the cable company block it. I say do it to all the broadcast news media until we get real news media.

7. Having the cable companies block it would be better
as FNCs advertising revenue would be less.

9. I Really Like That Idea
Yes...this is cutting the beast where they feel it. Faux not only makes money off the ratings, but from the number of "homes passed"...ones able to get the channel...this includes those who don't watch it, but could. These figures are also used by the local companies who sell several minutes each hour to your local car dealer or bank.

A large number of people abruptly demanding cable companies to filter this channel off their boxes, just like wingnuts do about adult and their targeted channels (MTV) could have some interesting results.

8. Besides fox news
Is there any real uncorrupt news out there anymore. Maybe we need to get the BBC here in america.

11. I've had Fox blocked for years now.
It really makes a difference.

It's kind of like losing the worst neighbor you've ever had.

13. Here's an idea
Most newer TVs made in the past decade allow you to "forget" a channel.

Since the cable companies are still in love with Fox, this is a cheap bypass.

Just takes a minute to use the remote to set the channel on ignore.

And it doesn't cost you a dime.

Kinda like an answering machine does for salespeople.

14. Only 100 sold? For ten bucks, next time you travel, take one
along and attack it to the hotel's TV. Better yet, leave one on your Republican relatives' television set. Consider it a public service!
