Ever wondered what Pat Sajak really thinks about things?
Edited on Fri Mar-25-05 02:41 PM by Fenris
Of course you haven't. But for the record, it's about what you'd expect from a man whose career involves asking if there's an "L" on a board full of lighted boxes.

Second, if the Christians are Conservative, why aren’t the right-to-die activists Liberal? There is a very limited spectrum that the press generally uses to describe a person’s politics. There are Conservatives and then there is everyone else. “ Conservative Senator so-and-so debated Senator what’s-his-name today.” In the world of the press, a Liberal rarely exists unless he or she is so identified by those hateful Conservatives.

In the Reuter’s example I cited, why not “Christian activists” or “right-to-live proponents”? No, they are Christian Conservatives, get it? Christians (and we know how closed-minded they are) and Conservatives (scary, huh?). The other side favors the right-to-die (giving people rights is always noble) and they are activists (caring, involved people). No contest here. Neanderthals vs. The Enlightened*.

<...>

As long as mainstream journalists share a similar view of the world, that world can never be reported “objectively”. And that is why the so-called alternative media have had such an impact. But don’t these bloggers also have a slanted view of the issues? Of course they do, but, in most cases, they acknowledge it and the consumers can factor in that slant when they read. When you check out something called “The View from the Right”, you know what you’re getting, but when you read The New York Times, you think you’re getting “All the news that’s fit to print”.

Pat Sajak is a world-class douchebag

*Finally we're on the same page, Pat!

Now that I know, I still don't want to know.

5. Curious
I actually AM interested in Pat Sajak's observations. It's always helpful to see how the other side views things.

Some of the things Sajak picks up on are undoubtedly there. They go right over my head because I agree with them. On the other hand, I constantly see examples of pro-Republican bias that may go right over his head.

In some cases, I disagree with Sajak's characterizations -- is "conservative Christian" really worse than "right-to-die" activist"? Often the editorialist is a Republican and the junior reporter is a Democrat who colors his language to subtely to get edited. In other cases, both biases creep into the same article, because the writer copies terms or descriptions from contacts on both sides of an issue. And on some social issues like gun control, the press does tend to be biased towards a liberal position.

BTW, there's an extra "http : //" in your link. Here's the unadorned version.

8. Sajak
I live in Annapolis and our hospital, Anne Arundel Medical Center, has - no kidding - the Sajak wing:

The Lesly and Pat Sajak Pavilion is home to Anne Arundel Diagnostics and the hospital's Breast Center, where the latest technology and highest level of care are geared to the physical, mental and spiritual needs of each patient. Other tenants of the building include the Diabetes Center, AAMC Auxiliary's Clothes Box and the offices of many AAMC Medical Staff physicians. There are entrances from the Sajak Garage onto four levels of the pavilion.

Here's more from their catalog:

If you've got a right-wing screed against liberals, Regnery will publish it for you. And you can thank Pat for some of that.

Sid

Edit: added Board of Directors link

12. Didn't he have a cable TV talk show ages ago?
It was on for maybe two seconds so I'm still not sure if I really saw it or not. But I remember him giving some fairly conservative views on there.
