There was Rep. Tom DeLay (R-Hell), telling members of the Family Research Council what Jesus wanted them to do. He didn't, Mr. DeLay said, want them keeping their theocratic beliefs to themselves. He did, Mr. DeLay said, want them injecting their theocratic beliefs into (and over) the system of government established by America's founding fathers almost 250 years ago and preferred by a majority of Americans today.
Little did Mr. DeLay know just how well someone was doing exactly what he said.
The Rev. Barry Lynn's group, Americans United for the Separation of Church and State (an advocacy group, therefore, for both church and state), got Mr. DeLay's comments on tape -- revealing him to be a traitor to both his church and his state. And the Rev. Lynn promptly released Mr. DeLay's comments online (www.au.org) for all the world to hear. We'll talk to the Rev. Lynn today about how he did it. We already know why, though. Because that's what Jesus would do.
