I re-call reading about that. They even set up stands in that thing. I do not re-call when it went on but have read about it and I keep thinking about it as this goes on. This stuff looks like something we drag out for the end of Oct. The pros of the death people are out in force. Maybe we could put them at Arlington Cem?Well with any luck I am sure Congress will get a good place on the Mall to build another pile of something to this poor women.C-span can show local from Fa. crying at it for us.

Made everything from toy guns that spark

It's easy to see without looking too far

17. It represents something Christ did
One time Christ washed his disciples feet and then dried them with his hair. It's a forum of respect. Usually the followers wash the rabbi's feet after the long travels. It's a tradition.

39. Now there's something I'd rather NOT remember - foot washings!
Raised Freewill Southern Baptist, they had those little foot washing rites frequently. For some odd reason, the nasty old men always insisted on the young (I'm talking YOUNG, here!) girls giving them the footjob.

Nasty!

91. It's an optional part of the service for Maundy Thursday
At the Last Supper, Jesus washed the feet of the disciples, a task usually performed by servants in a society where everyone went barefoot or wore sandals, as a sign that they should be humble and not try to lord it over one another.

During the Maundy Thursday service, which commemorates the Last Supper, parishioners in many churches are given the option of coming forward and having their feet washed.

11. "foot-washing" Baptists? (picture 2)
Growing up in Georgia, where Baptists churches are like crosswalks (or Hookers, as my Baptist preacher grandfather usta say) - they're on every corner...you had the hardshell variety, the once saved, always saved variety, and the foot-washing variety...(and I just know I'm forgetting the other myriad sects/dogma divisions within the Baptist denomination)

29. To a certain extent, many of these people
have a counterpart within our own DU midst, although I'll certainly grant that the percentage of hypocrites and charlatans is a lot higher. Try to be a little more charitable to them. It's quite possible that Bush himself has psyched himself int a similar True Believer state, but the people pulling HIS chain are as close to representing the Anti-Christ as we've ever seen in this country. When those "fundies" wake up to that, WE will look like "moderates".

"There is perhaps no phenomenon which contains so much destructive feeling as 'moral indignation', which permits envy or hate to be acted out under the guise of virtue."
(Erich Fromm: "Man For Himself")

It's like somebody baked a whole bunch of crazycakes and passed them around with a pot of crazycoffee. It's a bonafide Jesusland Krazyklatch.

Since I'm going to hell anyway (according to them), I can feel free to say this is some deeply funny shit. Makes me pine for the "This Week in God" bit on the Daily Show.

Okay that poor, scared baby isn't funny. That's just depressing. Hopefully he'll learn to question things in spite of his upbringing the way I did and get a one-way ticket out of Jesusland.

70. I agree with the one that says "Free Terri".
But probably not in the way the sign-holder means.

These comparisons to Christ are really getting unnerving.

75. Not sure about the maroon shirt guy.
... but the guy in the white shirt appears to be a Wham fan

... and the guy in the black shirt must be a fan of Andres Serrano.
That IS a picture of Pisschrist on his shirt... isn't it?

81. You're probably right... but Jesus works in strange ways
Edited on Sat Mar-26-05 10:23 AM by exploited
Today the Devil spoke to me and I thought fondly about pouring myself a fishbowl sized glass of beer. But then a vision of Jesus appeared before my eyes; he was floating in a glowing amber nectar of urine and blood. Suddenly my urge for beer disappeared! Praise Jesus for He spoke to me and I know what he wants. I must give my beer to Terri instead.

Tomorrow there will be TWO people in the crowd with fishbowls of beer. One of them will be a Serrano fan.

BTW, I wonder how many people in that crowd are stuggling to come terms with a secret attraction to George Michael?

86. We could take a Mapplethorpe image like this one

and put it on T-shirts and try to sell them to the crowd. Proceeds would go to the Mapplethorpe Foundation or the NEA.

76. The chick with the crucifix in the 10th picture is hot.
The rest of them look like a bunch of psychos. The baby is the only sane looking one there. He has a "Get me the fuck out of here!" look on his face.

84. WTF Day 2: Brain Damaged People in Pinellas Not Named Terri Schiavo

Elvis?

Smell it. You know you want to.

Let the Taliban parallels continue.

From the same people who brought you the magical ribbons that support troops.

The Power Pillow compels you!

He just happened to have one of these lying around the house.

Ah, a dignified and solemn protest.

The irony of telling the Bushes to "stop killing" is totally lost on these people.

I'll never get enough of this one.

90. I wonder how many are on Delay's payroll
Delay has a habit of hiring people to go to Florida to protest. It sure would be interesting to find out how these people who are obviously unemployed are able to travel to Florida to protest.

95. ah, what the hell...
It's a free country and this is what America is about. The right to protest. They're exercising the same rights we do when we protest the issues that matter to us, and evidently they possess the same kind of activist mojo that we'd bring to a protest. I won't mock them, even though I totslly disagree with their opinions on this case.

Anyway, this is all going to be over soon, and these people will pack up the signs, the crosses etc and go home. As with all deaths from time immemorial, the living DO move on eventually. There's no choice, really. There never has been.

I just hope Michael and the Schindlers will all be given the respect and privacy to do so. The circus that the media has enflamed this private family matter into is nothing short of disgusting.

My .02...
