the way they're acting , you'd think the people who wanted the wingnuts to butt out were a slim minority and not over 2/3 of the damn country

they keep pushing operation:make the case for a wingnut judiciary, though

2. they know it
they've been showing the polls. CNN pointed out today that Bush's approval rating has plummeted in response to the Schiavo mess.

3. They sure couldn't get enough of polls before the election --
all seeming to understate support for Kerry. Now they ignore polls showing that only a small minority support the Florida insanity.

4. Realization means nothing
They simply don't have the resources to do real reporting. Profit motivation has lead to stripping all research capabilities and left them merely as figure heads reading the talking points they get handed to them by various institutions and think tanks.

6. The media is in a persistent vegetative state...

7. They are corporations and will respond to one thing only: revenue losses.
Until we learn how to boycott effectively, we will not be heard.

8. And how big of a viewing audience is that 1/3?
And how attached to the narrative are they? And how can watching said narrative allow them to participate vicariously in said narrative (on which ever side)?

That's right. The cable execs. know exactly what they're doing. The biggest draw in cable gets 2.5 mil. viewers. It's a small pool. The question is simple: how do we get the largest draw from this small pool. Always play to the groups who are the most adamant; and/or who spend the most time in front of the tube; and/or who will eat the shit up with a big helping of gravy; and/or who become emotionally attached/involved in said story; and/or . . .

Again, it's both sides who contribute. Flame me, but IT'S TRUE!!!

10. Nah, people see what they want to see.
It's that simple. This case will actually provide evidence FOR liberal media bias.

11. You misunderstand their purpose
They aren't there to show you viewpoints that you agree with.

They are there to show you viewpoints you are SUPPOSED to agree with.

If people don't agree with them, that tells them they just need to try that much harder.
