Alan Dershowitz
Anybody see Dershowitz on Scarface. He had an interesting take on the schiavo case. Basically in Missouri Michael's testimony would not have been enough to put im motion the removal of the tube. That this case would be different in a lot of states. He also didn't think that Michael's case is strong enough. He also thought that there is no chance of a reversal.

1. How wonderfully irrelevant
Dershowitz may be a legal genius, but that's just a stupid point to make. He could have easily pointed out that the standard used in Florida is very similar to that used in Kentucky.

2. I understand there was more than just Michael's testimony
could Dershowitz be uninformed?

3. It would not have been enough in Pa either!
My info is about 5 years old, but I haven't heard of any changes in Pa. law. The law there forbids removal of a feeding tube once it's inserted, unless the health of the patient is such that they no longer need it to survive. I know this becuase my uncle had a feeding tube inserted, and after 5 years of no improvement in his health condition, the family investigated letting him go. He had been in the same PVS as Terri for those 5 years. State of Pa law said NO!

Even with a living will, you better check your state laws!

5. Uncle finally died 10 years later.
It was a very sad situation. It tore everyone's emotions apart. That was the first time I said "I don't every want to go through something like that!

I had a living will drawn up right after visiting him the first time. We have moved several times since, and I now live in Ga. I have just redone my living will and POA. I inserted a line that said "NO FEEDING TUBE!"

6. Too bad he didn't mention what the law is in Texas
If your poor and can't pay, you get your tube yanked, even if your family wants to keep you alive.

Bush signed that law.

So I guess if Terri was poor and in Texas she'd be with the angels already.
