In SE Arizona. That as a suggestion that I have a bit of experience with this dilemma, and it is one. The open border question is a canard as is the security wall propisition. People would not go to far away lands where they know not the language or customs if the situation where they are is secure, stable and rewarding. The reason their is a mass migration of brown skinned folks to El Norte is because they are being pushed off their land by TNC's, mostly American but not exclusively, for expropriation of land and exploitation of resources-Theft. Address the problem at the roots or it shall persist. Get the Corps off the land. Stop buying from and/or supporting any Corp that is involved in this practice such as Chiquita and Citigroup.

If you really want to look into this just examine how the US Gov't foreign policy has undermined the ejidos in Mexico. Look at what is happening to people in S. Mexico so that the timber and cattle barons can get their greedy paws on it all. The same group that is exploiting you and me is exploiting these beautiful people who you call "illegals". It's another case of blaming the victims and as long as you see these humans as "illegals" you can't see who is really tearing at us all.

commonly known term for someone who enters a country without proper process so that is the one I use. I would like to be more endearing, but why don't they fight the corps. from their country. Teams of volunteer "legal observers" will be monitoring a group that plans to patrol the Arizona border for illegal entrants in April, despite fears for the safety of volunteers that led the Arizona ACLU to reconsider its sponsorship.

About 25 people showed up to be trained in Tucson on Wednesday by Stanford law student Ray Ybarra, who said he submitted a letter of resignation to his two-year fellowship from the American Civil Liberties Union when he learned the group might withdraw its backing.

The ACLU has not accepted Ybarra's resignation and it may yet sponsor the project, said Eleanor Eisenberg, Arizona ACLU director.

Despite the ACLU's concerns, 21 people signed up to observe the actions of the Minuteman Project, which hopes to attract 1,500 people from across the country to Cochise County beginning April 1 in its effort to prevent illegal immigration.

More training sessions for legal observers will be held next week in Phoenix, Douglas and Tucson.

I've got some friends who live down there. They've had some troubles with burglars who live across the border--but got law enforcement onto them. They aren't worried about those only passing through. And they've got guns of their own--they don't want vigilante fools on their property.

The undocumented workers themselves aren't usually armed. But the vigilantes may get a bad shock if they run into any drug runners or coyotes.
