It's Privacy, Stupid
One of the three or four main democratic themes in both '06 and '08 must be that the Republicans have become the party of Big, Frightening, Intrusive, Police State, Theocratic Government. While the Democrats advocate making government smaller, more efficient, and, most importantly, buttress, strengthen and protect privacy rights.

Privacy rights can and should be broadbased: freedom from government intrusion into your personal medical decisions, family decisions, financial decisions (we should take up the cause against big corporations working with big government to know more and more about our private lives). There is a whole array of issues that can be cohesively weaved through with the privacy underpinning.

Republicans want big government to regulate and monitor absolutely everything about your private life and your finances.

Democrats want government to get off your back and off your families back, so that it can begin to work again for the best interests of the American people.

It's privacy, stupid.

4. This sounds strangely Repuke!! Roe vs. Wade was a test case.
I think we liberals like activist laws eh?

I mean wanting government out of everything is quite a Repuke thing. The Patriot Act (which may be repealed soon) we do not want to drink Kool-aid and be boxed into not wanting the state to intervene in anyone's life. Because that is how millions of government services are delivered.

It is a repuke thing to want no public good delivered by the market. You and I want there to be laws banning the sale of alcohol, videos to 15 years olds. The corporations are the ones who want laws like this.

I ask you - are you a freeper?

5. Your outlook on this issue..
confounded me when I read a few of your replies to other posts. I think this one sheds a little more light on it and I now understand what you are aluding to. But isn't there a difference between uninvited gummint interference in our lives (telling us we can't have abortions, can't marry the one we love, ect) and invited interventions ( social services, etc)?

6. I think you see the distinction but like the last two elections have
shown us.. people like it simple.

Just don't let yourself be danced outside by the Bush/Rove 1-2 step. Spending all of our time in offence to evil without thinking about where we are..does leave us open to being moved to place we really do not want to be. And the sociopaths in the WH know that.
