The media really needs it's ass slapped
Explosion in Texas City, my family can't be reached and every major news channel is showing vegetable coverage. People may be dead and injured and this woman isn't going anywhere, she'll be right there while they inform a nation about a disaster.

I guess if the plant had a feeding tube it would be a better story.

1. OH, I hope your family is OK.
And you're right - the MSM is really out of touch with reality, and out of control.

10. Thank you
if it was not for DU I wouldn't have known about it. In fact I'm getting better info here than any of the news channels. This is the kind of times I wish I lived closer

6. The worst one I ever went through
was having the entire downtown of my dad's hometown blow up when dynamite and ammo stored in the basement of a sporting goods store blew up. There were a lot of fatalities and injuries and my dad couldn't get any info from the news because that was the day MLK was assassinated.

Why the hell these blowdried bobbleheads yammer endlessly about one big story while totally ignoring other big stories is beyond me, but it's not a new phenomenon.

King's assassination deserved enormous coverage. However, so did the destruction of a whole town.

9. Major MSM ass slapping now underway, building momentum
If you can tolerate a astro take on this, then read the DU thread on Saturn conjunct the USA Mercury - changes in media and Intelligence.

If you are just coming over to let us know that we are Whacko superstitoids, save everyone the trouble. We are all well aware, and generally respectful of, skeptical views. That does not mean we are not entitled to our views.

In theory, things build until late May. Time will tell.

11. Some news here:
http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/topstory2/3099477

The BP plant products about 3% of the gasoline in the country. This should send a ripple through the country over the next few weeks.

Michael, I hope your family is OK. Thoughts are with you.

13. Yeah. So sorry. I hope your family is okay.
We have a thread in LBN on it. Only four killed so far. But the video out of KPRC shows vehicles that are crushed/burned/blown apart.

What's more, this refinery fire could have an impact of gasoline supply and drive up the cost.

19. thank you very much
I just got a hold of my sister in law and my brother was working in a different refinery and my neice was working in the woodlands today, she is an accident investigator so she'll probably be back in TC soon. So the good news is my family is all accounted for and safe but as far as I can tell there are some deaths.

I can't say this enought, if it wasn't for DU and the people here I would have been news-less, I was able to get a live feed online from channel 11 in houston but I kept loosing it. It's feels good to know that so many here care and were able to keep me informed, I thank you all for that. Shame on the MSM for letting a political website beat them time and time again in reporting real news and not God stories.
The media should be truely ashamed, I only hope my friends from high school and college are OK. I'll wait til someone posts the names of the injured and dead I guess.
